Dudes sound spoil AF, they quit all their jobs without putting in time because they know they can always fall back to mommy and daddy.

exactly. Dad's residuals alone are multi-generational wealth

One of my coworkers told me he was having a midlife crisis at 60yo.

I told him - "You are NOT living until 120. You will be retired soon. The fuck?"

PRAISE: Having being a member of several organized religions over the years i found myself instantly involved in this movie about. Two young missionaries being pulled into the trap of a Mr.Reed.
Some of the discussions about the Bible ive had over time matched with the topics and questions brought up by Mr.Reed portrayed by Hugh Grant who looks like he's having fun in almost every scene he's in. Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East are quite good as the sisters in religion. At first equally matching Reeds questions with their own analogies which made me smile, in fact I don't think i could stop smiling during the movies first 30 minutes. Even with the possibility of something sinister going on with Reed his questions and metaphors about faith and beliefs were always interesting to me. The intentions and objectives of Reed seemed obvious but i didn't mind because it's tied to the interesting parts of the movie.
There are several good moments of suspense and good uses of camera work as I was placed in the footsteps of the two missionaries as they approach certain objects in Reeds home.

PROBLEMS: Not much is done with a specific character i felt the placement was just there to be tied to a moment of convenience. The movie definitely runs out of steam in its last 24 minutes as things are explained as if I was watching a Scooby Doo Gang or Nancy Drew explanation of everything

Kind of like how they run most franchises into the ground, a la Home Alone, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and others ...

Home Alone[a] is a series of American Christmas family comedy films originally created by John Hughes. Chris Columbus directed Home Alone (1990) and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992), Raja Gosnell directed Home Alone 3 (1997), Rod Daniel directed Home Alone 4 (2002), Peter Hewitt directed Home Alone: The Holiday Heist (2012) and Dan Mazer directed Home Sweet Home Alone (2021). The films revolve around the adventures of surrounding children who find themselves alone during the holiday season and faced with the challenge of defending their family's house or themselves from invading burglars and criminals.

Reason I still go to the movies...that and Bond

Exactly. Movies made for the big screen.

Surprisingly ... I've got an aunt who is 75yo (dad's sister) that loves blockbusters, so I've seen a number of them with her. Mission Impossible, Bond, Top Gun, etc. Dating back to the Bonds in the 2000s.

I remember seeing Fallout with her late summer of 2018 and going to work the next day and coworkers asking me what I thought. I was like - "Yeah, that was exactly what a blockbuster / popcorn movie is supposed to be. Fully recommend."

Joker 2 is a masterpiece. Anyone who thinks otherwise does not understand ART. I can understand why though. The public is used to eating McDonalds or Chick-Fil-A, this movie was like eating Fogo De Chao or Miller’s Union off Chattahooche Ave in Atlanta for the first time.

Acting, Production Design, Cinematography, Editing, and Directing was on fucking point. Todd Phillips literally took what movies of the 40’s and 50’s were and put them in DC Comic book, but still kept the narrative element heavy so the story was still there. The music elements worked perfectly in giving a true sense of the surrealism of Arthur’s disconnect with regular ppl and reality meanwhile showing his connection with Lee as she is the only one who understands him.

This movie is a prime example why I don’t take Rotten Tomatoes or anything that someone else says about a movie seriously, until I watch it myself. You ask most ppl what’s their favorite Halle Berry movie they will say something recent or where she was a sex symbol, Me I would say Losing Isaiah. You ask most what was John Singletons best work most would say Snowfall or Boyz In the Hood, I would say Rosewood. You ask most what was Al Pacino best performance most would say Godfather, Scarface, Scent of A Woman, or even Devils Advocate, me I’d say Dog Day Afternoon.

Hollywood on Edge After Trump’s ‘Devastating’ Victory: ‘There’s a Lot of Fear’

By
Brent Lang, Gene Maddaus

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA - NOVEMBER 04: Republican presidential nominee, former U.S. President Donald Trump takes the stage during a campaign rally at the J.S. Dorton Arena on November 04, 2024 in Raleigh, North Carolina. With one day left before the general election, Trump is campaigning for re-election in the battleground states of North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

On Nov. 5, Mark Ruffalo settled in to watch the election night returns, expecting Kamala Harris to beat Donald Trump. But as one swing state after another tilted to the former and now future president, Ruffalo started to think about what the next morning would bring for America. “Going through my mind was just all the marginalized people that are going to be suffering from the unimaginable cruelty that’s going to be unleashed,” Ruffalo told Variety at the ACLU of Southern California’s Bill of Rights Awards on Sunday, referencing what he thinks Trump’s triumph means for women, immigrants and the LGBTQ community. “That was what was the most devastating. That we would let this happen.”

The “Avengers” actor isn’t the only member of the show business community cycling through the stages of grief in the aftermath of Trump’s return to power. After all, Hollywood threw its collective weight behind Harris, organizing Zoom fundraisers, sharing social media messages of support and stumping in battleground states. So her defeat was a shattering blow. And while Trump’s first win, in 2016, felt like a bolt from the blue, one that left the creative community eager to join the resistance, this time was different.

“In 2016, the reaction at the time felt like rage. People were motivated — inspired. They wanted to get up and get going,” says one agency insider. “In 2024, the reaction is much more somber and more resigned.”

Laura Friedman, a former film producer who won election to the U.S. House last week as a Democrat, says people in her circles were more distraught than they were eight years ago. “We have seen his bizarre behavior, his corruption and cronyism — we’ve seen all of that, and yet people still voted for him,” she says. “There’s a lot of fear.”

That anxiety was palpable at the glossy events that took place around Los Angeles last weekend. Celebrities still posed for photos on red carpets, but their megawatt smiles couldn’t disguise flickers of worry and sadness. “The last few days have been surreal,” Ciara, the Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, said at Baby2Baby’s annual gala.
On Saturday, the star-studded premiere of Universal’s “Wicked” provided some distraction from the despair that enveloped the entertainment industry. Executives brought their kids, and famous fans of the musical (including Jennifer Lopez and Troye Sivan) escaped to Oz for the night. A couple days earlier, at the film’s L.A. junket, star Cynthia Erivo drew parallels between the fantastical story and the political moment.

“It’s OK to celebrate each other’s differences,” she said. “I hope it allows us to learn about empathy and what it is to open up to other people, even though they might not be like yourself.”
At the after-party many people appeared to be drowning their sorrows in the night’s custom cocktail, the Ozmopolitan. A few women at the “Wicked” bash even shared stories of cold-calling pharmacies in attempts to “hoard birth control.” They didn’t seem to be joking.

At the corporate level, some executives, such as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, congratulated Trump on his comeback, while Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav predicted that the new administration would be more willing to rubber-stamp future mergers. Yet there are concerns about how Trump, who has made no secret of his antipathy toward the media or his desire to exact revenge, may respond if Hollywood is too critical. “Saturday Night Live,” for instance, poked fun at this squeamishness during its cold open last weekend, which found the ensemble jokingly declaring their support for Trump. “I keep waking up in the middle of the night screaming. With joy, of course,” Ego Nwodim insisted.

If studios and streamers aren’t worried about enraging a thin-skinned commander in chief, they may be concerned about alienating the majority of voters who handed him a decisive victory. In this election, Trump captured the popular vote for the first time.
“This might reset some of their thinking about the attitudes of the American people,” actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt said at the Bill of Rights Awards. “If you asked your average Hollywood executive, ‘Who do you think will win the popular vote in 2024?’ very few of them would have said Donald Trump. … I don’t expect Hollywood to really do much other than pursue commercial interests, and I imagine those commercial interests will be realigned by this revelation.”

Others are still processing the outcome and want to take a moment to listen and reflect before deciding how to respond.
“There’s not a knee-jerk reaction,” says Liana Schwarz, who advises Hollywood donors on issues including climate, protecting democracy and women’s rights. “It is really about being introspective to figure this out.”
For celebrities committed to particular causes, the focus is on how to guard against the threats of a second Trump term.
“While there is shock, it’s not as deep as it was in 2016,” Schwarz says. “There’s more talk about getting to work versus organizing marches.”

PRAISE: I believe everyone reaches a point in their life whether they are pushed to do so or something overwhelms them to reflect on people they are on the outs with and regret who they left in the rear view of their lives. All of the aforementioned can be said about the character Liam Neeson portrays in this film he turns in a very strong performance as a gangster reaching his twilight period. Also quite strong are Frankie Shaw as his daughter Daisy and Yolanda Ross as a playful, caring, woman whos life the gangster walks into who has her own set a of problems. I enjoyed that Neeson's character was trying to set things right even though there were some huge hurdles in his way. I loved the salty dialogue in the script, and even when the script hits a few familiar beats i found the movie to be entertaining. I was actually shocked by one turn in the movie. I admire the film for trying to do a few different things in the old school gangster genre. The movie reminded me of one of my favorite movies of 2023 Knox Goes Away.

PROBLEMS: There's definitely some been there done that old hat scenes throughout the movie. A couple of turns were very predictable.

Agreed - loved having it in the rotation for the wealth of knowledge they'd drop about the biz. Plenty of time spent listening to them while doing mundane tasks like grocery shopping, cooking, washing dishes, or just general paperwork in-house.

The movie and her performance have been getting plenty of early Oscar buzz in recent months ... I really liked the director's work with the movies The Florida Project and Red Rocket from 2017 & 2021 respectively.
