Music Debate: Biggie is the Best Rapper but Jay Z is the Best MC (DJ Clark Kent)

Ghost never in these discussions?
Because his style was very different from Big, PAC, Nas, and Jay. Also, women could relate to those 4 rappers, they made occasional songs that women could jam to. Lyrically, Ghost can hang with anybody. He's in my top five. I've never heard a Ghost album that I couldn't listen to all the way they without skipping a song.

Ain't nobody ever can come around here talking bad about Reggie Noble...

But I find it interesting we can never have a concise debate on bgol...

This is clearly a Jay v Biggie topic but it's like people are unable to discuss without dragging in others...

Which I guess prove how truly great both these artists are.

So the REAL question is

will we ever talk about any rappers from the last 10 years like that?

Drake Kendrick Cole Pusha migos Rick Ross meek mill nicki wale rocky Joey badass lil uzi vert jay electronica lil dickie action Bronson joel Ortiz battle rappers etc?
only KDOT, everyone else nope...

Biggie was not in my top 5 in 1995, not in my top 5 now. Jay ain't nowhere near the top 5, maybe in money and record sales (great promotion), maybe the most influential (the Pied Piper of Hip Hop), but damn for sure is not anywhere near the most talented mc/rapper I ever heard in my lifetime.

Back when Biggie was alive, you ain't hear no headliners or rap vets, outside his tight circle, saying Biggie was the best rapper alive or the best they ever heard, lol. If so, somebody please show me a 90's video or hip hop article of other top rappers saying Biggie was the best ever.

If Jay Z and Biggie is in your top 5, you have not been listening to nothing but the fucking radio, you have not really heard seen or heard no real talent before in life.

Folktales and tall tales always make people bigger and better than what they were.

True and True...

This Post is about Jay-Z & Biggie, nobodys talking about PAC, LL, Kane or KRS-One. Stick to the topic. People talking about LL yet Kool Moe Dee killed him and he never accepted Kool Moe Dees challenge. If you want to compare Tupac to Big lets talk about Pac's bloodline, Tupac owed it to his fans to be the most conscious rapper ever; yet he ran around with that Thuglife buffonery, Tupac was a actor who Souled out to Suge Knight its time people realized that.

Jay-Z and Big were street dudes who rapped about what they knew. Jay-Z was hustling hard before this rapshit, Lexus with the TV's and the Sega Genesis. If you want to talk about who was real and had substance, Jay & Big spoke the story of their life on the street. These were 2 similar rappers, even with Bigs short Discography its hard to say who was better because Jay-Z has quite a few solid records.
Did u say Big was a street dude??:hmm:Pac was an actor but big wasnt :hmm: ive heard it all now; man somethings you see on bgol cant be made up :smh:and then you said Jay-Z was hard hustling; everyone who is anyone knows Jay-Z wasnt no big time drug dealer; he was a corner boy at best; dude stop with these hood fables.........

LL Cool J is the best rapper from NY. Put the city on his back as a mainstream soloist. And could also get his hands dirty.

Whats the verdict?

I'm skeptical about this but I'm also curious about the unheard interview.

Good but they didn't say anything we didn't know...i thought it go more into how the murders happened and who the players were, nonetheless, it was ok.

Yes it was well done but didn't add anything. But it was so well done I'm very happy it exists.

I actually re watched Tupac resurrection before this which is a great doc much better than the movie...

But is pretty much impossible to be done with another rapper...

Tupac was so prolific musically and probably the most photographed and interviewed figure in all of hip hop.

That resurrection documentary was told entirely with his OWN voice.

Like I said earlier it's important that we have a well done high production value piece of work to memorialize this brother.

Those clips of him rapping as a child should be in the African American Museum in DC.

The list interview the baby pictures the jazz man NExt door who taught him the basics of vocalization his first rap battle...

It was very well done.

I love Pac...

but hearing this and watching all these documentaries the consensus seems to be Pac KNEW Big aint do it..

and did ALL this for record sales

while the ENTIRE time

all Biggie did was try to DEESCALATE it

even after the Faith incident

just saying

looking back

who was the bigger man (pardon the pun)?

The man who should be MOST highly regarded in memory of being POSITIVE to his people...

shouldn't that be BIG?

Cause Pac used the worst to get paid

and telling Quincy Jones

"I'm just trying to sell records"

no matter what he was saying in songs and interviews.

Biggie wanted to stop all this nonsense from the get go and DIED trying to make peace.

pac never said Big did it or anything to do with it. He just said he felt like he knew who did it. or knew something and didnt say shit. with them being homeboys and all.

This is very well done. I've never seen some of these interviews. They put some money in to this and had a lot of people involved.

pac never said Big did it or anything to do with it. He just said he felt like he knew who did it. or knew something and didnt say shit. with them being homeboys and all.

Pac knew who did it. He didn't need Biggie to tell him who did it.

Biggie wasn't dumb enough to hang with them or start a war with OG's in the game

Went from ten G's for blow to thirty G's a show
To orgies with hoes I never seen before
So, Jesus, get off the Notorious

You're delicate, you better get, who sent ya?
You still pedal shit, I got more rides than Great Adventure
Biggie, (How are you gonna do it?)
Kick in the door, waving the four-four
All you heard was Poppa don't hit me no more

You cursed it, but rehearsed it
I drop unexpectedly like bird shit
You herbs get stuck quickly for royalties and show money
Don't forget the publishing, I punish 'em, I'm done with them
Son, I'm surprised you run with them
I think they got cum in them 'cause they nothing but dicks
Trying to blow up like nitro and dynamite sticks
Mad I smoke hydro, rock diamonds that's sick
Got paid off my flow, rhyme with my own clique
Take trips to Cairo, laying with your bitch
I know you praying you was rich, fucking prick
When I see ya I'mma
Kick in the door, waving the four-four
All you heard was Poppa don't hit me no more
Kick in the door, waving the four-four
All you heard was Poppa don't hit me no more
Kick in the door, waving the four-four
All you heard was Poppa don't hit me no more

Now ya brailling it, snatch that light shit, I'm scaling it
Conscious of ya nonsense, in eighty-eight
Sold more powder than Johnson and Johnson
Tote steel like Bronson, "Vigilante"
You wanna get on son, you need to ask me
Ain't no other kings in this rap thing
They siblings, nothing but my children
One shot they disappearin'
It's ill when MC's used to be on cruddy shit
Took home Ready to Die, listened, studied shit
Now they on some money shit, successful out the blue
They light weight, fragile, my nine milli
Make the whites shake, that's why my money never funny
