Yeah, I’ve already pretty much given up playing this year’s 2k.
And I’m about 1 week’s worth of games away from regretting even buying it.
Year after year, the gameplay is moving backwards, imo. And this year it feels like 2k has built a game that was meant to specifically cater to the ‘wishes’ of the YouTubers.
They continue to adjust stuff to reduce cheese, sure I get it. That’s great... but at the same time, they ruin the other things that worked really well in the past & felt natural.
The MyCareer story is sooo much better.... but the actual ‘controls’ have degraded drastically, imo.
And the ironic thing is... the folks I have seen on YouTube who praise the game... are ALL using the very same jumpshot bases & releases, the same builds, the same archetypes, and the same dribble moves to compensate for the flawed mechanics.
I’ve been a fan of 2k for years.... but it’s just not as appealing (or as fun) as it was back in 2011.
I’m seeing videos of people in the Park...
- Still not passing the ball.
- Still over dribbling.
- Still making ‘heavily contested’ deep jumpers, from mid court.
- Still spamming the steal button, on defense.
- Still taking reckless shots from halfcourt.
In MyCareer, my CPU teammates are still leaving their assignments wide open in the corners, for no good reason whatsoever.
It just feels like NBA 2k18 all over again... only with a bigger neighborhood... a better storyline... the ability to skip cutscenes... but LESS ability to get open... and way too many ‘missed shots’ at higher ranking, as I level up.
The higher my rank goes.... the more shots i miss. Which feels so backward.
It’s like, you can’t just play the game & have it work well, right out the box. You have to spend way too much time to ‘configure’ every last slider setting & attribute of your Player.... just to get the game to a point where it doesn’t make you frustrated.
When 2k11 dropped, I just started playing and having fun RIGHT AWAY.
Then tweaked the sliders & configurations as I went along (like after playing every 10-20 games, or so) to get ‘the balance’ more to my liking. But now in 2k19, I realize I have tweak some shit / or adjust some slider / or re-configure a move / or select a new animation... after every other game
, because of some bullshit that just happened in the previous game, that pissed me off.
