I think maybe a guaranteed appearance as the lowest ranked play-in team might be appropriate.

And this is why I think this tournament is dumb. Cuz there is no purpose for it and people are trying to find one. There’s a lot of players that don’t care about a championship ring so what the hell is going to make them care about a NBA Cup??

Veteran forward Andre Iguodala, who mentored Poole during the 24-year-old's four-year Warriors career, believes despite what people might think, Poole had a solid 2022-23 season with Golden State. And Iguodala is sure Poole will top that performance in his first season with the Washington Wizards.

"He averaged 20 last year, on a bad year. He's going to get to the line. He's the only one who got to the line for us last year consistently," Iguodala said on the "Gil's Arena" podcast. "People act like he had a bad year. I'm like, 'OK, a bad year? Y'all blamed him for the year we had last year and he averaged 20.' [He will average] 25-plus, easy. He's going to get to the line.

"And then at home, you have to give him the whistle at home, he's going to average 30 at home. And it's Chocolate City, so you know who's going to be in the stands, they got all the memes. Every time he sees a bad chick, he's going for 40."

Another ex-teammate, Golden State sharpshooter Klay Thompson, sees All-Star potential for Poole.

But it takes more than talent to be successful in the NBA, and Iguodala isn't one to sugarcoat anything. He understood that it was difficult for Poole to shine on a team that consisted of Steph Curry, Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins. So when Poole was shipped to Washington D.C. in a blockbuster trade that brought future Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul to the Bay, Iguodala kept it real with the young guard.

The four-time champion told Poole that he had to grow up now that he had his "own team," and that being the face of a franchise comes with a lot of responsibility. In Golden State, it wasn't something he necessarily had to worry about, but with the Wizards, it's a whole different story.

Iguodala, who still regularly keeps in contact with Poole, said he already has noticed a difference, though.

"He's already starting to make the right strides," Iguodala said. "I've heard about what he's been doing with his teammates. The other day, I was asking him about his teammates, and he knew everything about every one of them. And I'm like 'OK, now we starting off on the right path.'

"He brought them all out to LA. He did! He's leading."

Christmas is coming early for Warriors narratives when Jordan Poole comes home as a member of the Wizards on Dec. 22 for his one and only game in The Bay.

From the Philadelphia Inquirer:

James Harden lied, not Daryl Morey

Daryl Morey didn’t lie. James Harden is lying.

After Harden accused the Sixers president of lying about a promise of more money in the future, two NBA sources insisted last week that Morey never even implied that Harden would be guaranteed a maximum contract if he took a $15 million pay cut in the 2022 offseason. What he implied was, if, in 2022-23, Harden returned to the form he last displayed in 2019-20, Harden might be worth an average of $52 million over the next four years.

Harden did not return to that form. In fact, he regressed.

As should be expected; after all, he’s nearly 34, and, considering his lifestyle, those are dog years. As such, Morey did not offer Harden anywhere near the max. In fact, neither Morey nor anyone else in the NBA believes Harden is even worth the $35.6 million he opted in to in June.

That includes Harden. Oh, he wants all the money. He just knows he’s not worth it. He hasn’t been worth it in a while.

Remember, Harden was a free agent last year. Nobody wanted him last year.

Harden was able to be a free agent this year. He knew nobody wanted him this year. That’s why he didn’t opt out of his contract. That’s why he took $35.6 million.

Nobody wanted to trade for him this year, either. Because, until Saudi Arabia starts buying hoopers like it’s buying golfers and soccer players, Harden’s not worth $35.6 million to anyone, anywhere.

Okay from everything I KNOW?

I believe BOTH things can be true

They BOTH liars.

Every agent and nba stat nerd said in real time Harden was INSANE to take that pay cut. The evidence is in this here thread.

That is why even some Philly fans thought something was up with all that.

But I don't believe Morey explicitly stated it. And I also think Harden full of sh*t expecting it after the season he had.

Daryll BEEN called a lair by other players remember Chris Paul? So he got a track record. So does Harden.

But this is Philly business imma leave it to my cuz to break it down because he ain't been wrong yet.

Well….I don’t bet on the outcome of games. I bet on props and such.

Still...

If people REALLY believed the NBA is rigged

Which they been saying since Ewing draft and before?

Why they still watching?

Why they care so much?

Let alone were BEGGING for legalized betting?

Says WAY more about the fan base as opposed to the veracity of the league itself.

Oh yeah. I see what you’re saying. People will always bring up the “rigged” convo when it benefits them. Most fans didn’t want to see a Nuggets-Heat Finals, most fans WANTED to see battle of LA in the Bubble. The league didn’t rig it then.

I do believe that refs can control the game but it’s the team’s responsibility to keep the game out of the official’s hands

Listen...

What Stern did with the rogue official?

That Sun's playoff series?

Chris Paul v Scott Foster?

Ok NOW you talking and we can have a serious discussion because that sh*t should be enough for a Congressional inquiry

I don’t think the argument is that they outright rig, but that they exert influence that can be determinative.

If a team would have won by five under fair circumstances but the league favored the other team and the team that refs helped won by 5, I don’t think fans/consumers should simply blame the team that started at -10 for not being 11 points better.
