Damn, is Glen Johnson broke?
Will Roc Nation bring a strong undercard in its PPV debut?
Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez which will take place in Las Vegas on November 21.
Along with the news were murmurs from Roc Nation promoter Michael Yormack that the consensus #2 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Andre Ward, might fight on the Cotto vs Canelo undercard.
Like Cotto, Ward is promoted by Roc Nation Sports.
While possible opponents have not been disclosed, it would not be surprising if Ward was given another tune-up. Andre, of course, in his first bout in 17 1/2 months, stopped a determined but limited Paul Smith in nine last June.
And while that's probably the reality, it would be nice to see Ward fight another big name. But a majority of the top fighters, especially super middleweights, are with other promotions; most notably, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) who handles George Groves, Andre Dirrell, Anthony Dirrell, James Degale, and Badou Jack.
And it's unlikely at this point either that Europeans Callum Smith or Rocky Fields would be ready and willing to fight Ward.
Possible candidates for Ward on the Cotto vs Canelo undercard:
#1: Gilberto Ramirez, 32-0, 24
Ramirez is probably the most unlikely candidate given he's with Top Rank and on a card with heavy Mexican interest, it would be nice to see one of the country's younger stars taking on Ward, but after Ramierez's poor performance against Maxim Vlasov, it's unlikely you see him take such a massive step up in competition this soon. Still, this is one of the better Super Middleweight options out there.
#2: Martin Murray:
Murray has moved up to light heavyweight but with Ward possibly having a shot at the division's unified champion Segey Kovalev, a move to 175 is not out of the question and Murray would be an extremely serviceable option.
#3: Fedor Chudinov, 13-0, 27:
Coming off a big victory over Felix Sturm, Chudinov would probably be a strong candidate to fight Ward but it's unlikely he'd do a quick turnaround given he has a fight booked on September 26th.
With potential big fights looming for Ward, Chudinov would likely fall in the 'tune-up' category for Ward but it would still be nice to see him fight a name of sorts outside a relative unknown like Paul Smith.
Who would you like to see Ward fight?

I like what I see so far but I'm stalling out on crowning him the next great until I see how he does when he seriously steps up in class. Seen this before, most recently with Broner who was kicking major ass until he stepped up.
His has nice skill sets tho...
come on man he is nothing like broner
and broner at his natural weight was fucking incredible

That shit was pathetic....yeah,Wilder TKO'ed the tomato can...but the can landed far too much.
Sooner or later Wilder is gonna have to fight a live body...and at this point,I don't have a great deal of faith in him.

Wilder looking for another corpse to fight....
For the last few days a persistent rumour has circled on social media that oft criticised WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was seeking to squeeze in a fight with countryman and former Wladimir Klitschko foe, Bryant “By By” Jennings.
Wilder is due to face mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin in his next bout, and with Povetkin himself fighting next month in Russia against Mariusz Wach, it’s reported Wilder’s team – including elusive ‘adviser’ Al Haymon – are keen on him squeezing in one more voluntary defense before that time, however, should it happen, that WILL NOT be against Jennings.
The Philadelphia fighter’s promoter Gary Shaw told ESPN.com that Jennings was never in the running to land a fight with “The Bronze Bomber” anyhow and that the rumours are exactly that. It’s not to say the WBC won’t renege on their promise that Wilder’s next defence must be against Povetkin however, as for the right price of course, an extension can be granted from the governing body to allow him to make another voluntary defence of his title.
Wilder has looked poor since winning the green belt in what remains a career best performance against Bermane Stiverne way back in January. Since then he has been attempting to build a hometown following in his native Alabama on the PBC brand, and most recently made hard work of little-known Johann Duhaupas, eventually stopping the durable Frenchman in the 11th round last month. Prior to that he had again struggled to look good, getting rocked against school teacher Eric Molina in June.
Neither of those two fighters were deemed world title worthy opposition by the boxing public, and it’s a shame that a fight with Jennings was just speculative, as, after lasting 12 rounds with Wladimir Klitschko back in April and giving a good account of himself, a Jennings fight could have earned Deontay some badly-needed credibility points and helped prime him a little – especially mentally – for what will be a daunting task against Russian former Olympic gold medalist, Povetkin – whenever that day may be.
