I liked it personally. I have faith that it will get more serious but I dont expect Punisher style violence on a 8PM show on ABC.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with everyone up in this thread. This show is fucking epic!!!! I'm only on episode 4 and I am loving it!!

I thought this week's episode was good....

I very happy that my initial reaction was to give Joss & his crew time...

cause I believe we will all be really happy in the end.

The show has been getting better and better.

And if they ARE reading BGOL for tips...

all the better

Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Ratings: Midseason Finale Enlists Superhero Help

You'd better sit down, Marvel fans, because things might get ugly in tonight's episode of Disney (NYSE: DIS ) Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

So what should viewers expect? Well, lead actor Clark Gregg (aka "Agent Coulson") was kind enough to provide a nice little hint a few days ago on his Twitter feed:

disney_clark_gregg_tweet_large.png

Disney Marvel's Agents of SHIELD competes with CBS, News Corp
As Gregg notes, Mike Peterson was the superhero subject of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s pilot episode -- you know, the guy who crawled up the side of a burning building with his bare hands, then effortlessly jumped from a top floor window while holding a lifeless victim.

If you're wondering why Coulson and his team need Peterson's help, check out the sneak peek posted by the folks at Marvel just yesterday:

The end goal by Disney''s ABC, of course, is to maintain the show's current ratings momentum going into tonight's midseason finale.

Remember, three weeks ago Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ratings finally saw their first uptick since
the series began back in September, earning a solid 2.4 in the key 18-49 demographic as 6.89 million viewers tuned in.

Of course, skeptics were quick to claim the jump would be short-lived, especially considering it coincided with a widely publicized crossover with Disney Marvel's big-budget blockbuster, Thor: The Dark World.

I suppose they were confounded, then,
when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s live viewership spiked 35% the following week to 9.3 million, earning it a solid 2.6 rating and driving ABC to a season high performance as the most-watched network of the night. In addition, that also marked S.H.I.E.L.D.'s second-largest audience to date, trailing only its mammoth 11.9 million-viewer debut.

On a more worrisome note, that was still only good enough for S.H.I.E.L.D. to secure second place in the overall ratings that evening, as CBS (NYSE: CBS ) was able to take the top spot during the same hour with its annual rebroadcast of 1964's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. When all was said and done, CBS' perennial holiday classic earned a 3.0 rating with a stunning 11.3 million live viewers.

Keep in mind, however, Disney's ABC ironically managed to achieve the same feat last Monday, using its own annual rebroadcast of 1965's A Charlie Brown Christmas to best News Corp's (NASDAQ: NWS ) futuristic new crime drama, Almost Human -- and I already suggested industry pundits shouldn't have been concerned by that holiday upset given a broader view of Almost Human's compelling numbers.

In this case, I think the same big-picture perspective is required to judge the performance of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which for the ninth week in a row remained the number-one series in its time period with the lucrative men's 18-34 demographic. As a result, and especially given its most recent jump in viewership, Disney and ABC should have no problem continuing to entice advertisers to pay up for airtime in future episodes.

As it stands, I'll be sure to touch base with regard to how tonight's superhero-aided effort pans out. But given its significant tailwinds over the last few weeks, I won't be surprised if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continues its ratings uptrend.

Is it just me or is this show quietly improving???

While they still don't use as much of the Marvel Universe as they could, I've always enjoyed it but there has been a uptick as far as the writing tightening up. They didn't go with the obvious romantic couple or drag out the "Skye is a mole" angle.

Last, either be a Marvel produce or not. Stop walking the line on being in the Marvel Universe. Either include Marvel characters in the storyline or not. Putting Marvel at the beginning of the title suggest we are going to see Marvel heros and villains. Which causes the fans to have high expectations every week of seeing Marvel Characters. When that doesn't happen the expectations turn to disappointment which creates a negative vibe for the show and doesn't give the show a real chance to succeed. If they not gonna be a real Marvel produce they should ground the show in reality and have a more serious tone like a NCIS show. Anyway my two cents....

Thing is,they can only use Marvel characters that they have the television rights to,so no Avengers cameos(or mentions of Spiderman,XMen and what not)unless they plan on backing up dumptrucks full of cash to RDJ and such's houses expect more name-drops and stock footage of the characters in shadow with their backs to the camera  as well as the occasional samuel l jackson appearance before the end credits

Netflix has the tv rights to Daredevil,Jessica Jones and such so i dont think theyll be on the show any time soon either :dunno:

Marvel has just revealed that one of their classic comic book characters is not only set to make an appearance to "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", but that he's actually been a part of the show since the very first episode. J. August Richards' Mike Peterson will, in February 4th's episode, become the cybernetic soldier Deathlok!

Deathlok, Marvel's cyborg assassin, celebrates his 40th anniversary this year. Formerly considered for a big screen film, Deathlok's role on "S.H.I.E.L.D." is officially described as follows:

Transformed into the cybernetic solider against his will, Mike Peterson must struggle to find the man in the machine. With a high-tech eye that allows him to see through walls, super strength and increased speed courtesy of a cybernetic leg, will Deathlok fight alongside the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or against them?

"We have been waiting all season for this moment where we can reveal that Mike Peterson's story arc is an origin story," said Executive Producer Jeffrey Bell. "We're thrilled to have J. August Richards playing Deathlok and to have our audience enjoy this favorite Marvel character on the show."

"If you would have asked when I was nine-years old what I wanted to be, I would have said a super hero and I'm so excited to be one now as an adult on TV!" added J. August Richards. "It's a dream come true."

Titled "T.R.A.C.K.S.", the February 4th episode is the series' 13th overall. The 15th episode, meanwhile, was previously announced to feature Jaimie Alexander reprising her Thor and Thor: The Dark World role as Lady Sif.

"Sif will come to Earth to track down Lorelei, a villain from Walter Simonson's Thor run," reads an official Tweet update from Marvel's TCA presentation. Elena Satine ("Magic City") will play the Asgardian foe.

you are not missing anything bro
I think the show doesn't have a real identity. The producers don't know what kind of show they want to put out. The week to week villain of the week approach doesn't really work. They should have a main Villain / Organization that they are up against the entire season with a face off at the end. The whole plane thing keeps them in a box too. They should have a base of operations on a island kind of like Young Justice and add three to four more agents. Where they can decide on missions and send out different teams each week so that you can focus on the storylines of those characters and develop them instead of having to involve the whole team every week. Nobody wants to see Geeks in action so the base of operations would also give the two nerds on the show a R & D Lab to go visit them when needed (kinda like Q in the Bond Movies) and not have to deal with their nonsense babel every week. Marvel Recruits Deathlok For 'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

mgid:uma:content:mtv.com:1721009

What, you didn't really think that was all there was to Mike Peterson's story, did you? Did you really think it would end with him being an arbitrary super-soldier, half-exploded and imprisoned for life by Centipede, without any further developments? Some "true believer" you turned out to be!

As it turns out, there's much more to actor J. August Richards' "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." character, first introduced in the pilot episode, and last seen in the nefarious Centipede's custody. We'll see Mike Peterson again on the February 4 episode of the series, reintroduced as a classic character from Marvel Comics lore: Deathlok, a cybernetic soldier boasting a high-tech eye, super-strength and increased speed, among other cybernetic enhancements.

"We have been waiting all season for this moment where we can reveal that Mike Peterson's story arc is an origin story," executive producer Jeffrey Bell said of the reveal, as announced on Marvel.com. "We're thrilled to have J. August Richards playing Deathlok and to have our audience enjoy this favorite Marvel character on the show."

"If you would have asked when I was nine-years old what I wanted to be, I would have said a super hero and I'm so excited to be one now as an adult on TV," Richards said of playing Deathlok. "It's a dream come true."

Perhaps it's a dream come true, but it's almost certainly not the end of the story. Indeed, take a closer look at Bell's comment: this whole time, Peterson's story was "an origin story," building toward the Deathlok reveal. It makes you stop and wonder: Who else on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is undergoing an origin story?

Skye is a likely candidate, given recent revelations, as is the mysteriously alive Agent Coulson. Don't think we've forgotten about those Vision theories — and now with Peterson's new role, I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't a similar fate in store for Coulson. Could he become a Deathlok as well, ala "Star Trek: The Next Generation" hero Jean-Luc Picard's Locutus transformation once upon a time? That's my theory for now, and I'm sticking to it!
