Hate us now, love us in the morning...

Congratulations!

It won't be here until April. I was planning on holding on to my blackberry until someone pried it from my cold, dead hands or it gave up the ghost. I just changed to Tmobile to be able to keep it. Then I saw this thread. At first I said I'd wait until the price came down and see what actual reviews were and consider it as an option if no other phones I liked with keyboards made an appearance. There are always bugs. Then I said I would get it while the memory upgrade is included and hold off activating it until my blackberry finally bit the dust. Then yesterday I had to reinstall some blackberry apps and some things aren't working as well because of blackberry not really supporting the device and more useful software like the hub isn't really functioning like I need it to and that screen is soooooo BIG and purrrrrrrdy, so I may activate it when I get it.

I'm mad tho. I got the sky blue because the red looks like a coral/orange read instead of a blue/cherry red and the green was more like a forest green, but I'm seeing videos from folks where the green a blue green. This does not look like the green on the Samsung site. The stylus on the unlocked phone is cuter tho. Yes, that matters. lol.

Yeah I wanted the Graphite, but they only had the 256 left to get it asap.

This the fastest I've seen Samsung sell some phones.

That was a factor also, seeing the 1 TB sell out. I didn't want it because it was only in black, but I didn't know if any of the others would be limited. Combined internal + sd storage on my current phone I have 96 GB and I haven't even used half since I got the phone in 2018 so I'm sure 512 will be fine, even with the higher resolution pics and vids.

I'm sure it will be ok, I can adjust. I just don't like typing on glass. I have to look at the screen the entire time I also don't like feeling like phone sheep where I have the same phone as everyone else.

OMG this has a coloring book. I'm in love. :inlove:. I hate y'all. I never would have even bought this phone if not for this thread.

I been on a Note since the first one. Had the 1, 3, 4, then went to the S8 and hated it for the whole time I had it, then got the 10 and 20.

For anyone who hasn't had a Note, don't think they get the functionality of the Pen and all the things you can do with it. I dont use it all the time, but I do use it a lot.
I do write notes when the phone is off and I need to write something quick along with selecting precise things in the phone instead trying to grab something with your finger and you being a woman, with nails. S-Pen makes many things easier.

Plus can take pics with the pen and the camera across the room

you will have other options to type. You can swipe, which is probably the best option. I'm sure you'll get used to it. You don't type like with an on-screen keyboard. You glide your fingers across each letter. Second, you can talk-to-text.

Yeah I saw this one vid, where this guy was saying he thought physical keyboards and s pens were outdated because you can just speak into your phone, but I feel really self conscious and pretentious doing that. I have voice to text on my phone now, but I rarely use it. I even feel weird talking on a blue tooth headset because my hair usually covers it up. My sister uses voice to search all the time tho.

i don't use voice much either. swiping is the best alternative. Try it out. Gboard is cool or even the default samsung keyboard.

I'll miss my keyboard. It is back lit and capacitive where I could use it to scroll the screen and apps without ever touching the screen. The MAIN thing I'm worried about are notifications. Blackberry had a hub where I could see emails from all my accounts, text messages, call logs, different apps. I could read and reply without opening the actual individual apps. Google crippled it a couple of years ago, but I didn't update to the new version so I had mostly full function until a friend updated all my apps when they were using my phone. Now if I click on a text it opens the messenger app, and I can only see incoming texts, not the ones I send. It's basically useless now. My universal device search is no longer working right, it will search emails and files, but not bring up any of the apps. According to all the folks who have moved away from blackberry, there isn't a decent replacement.

This was just a perfect storm of fuckery where it's becoming more frustrating to use my phone than to enjoy it. One good thing about switching from AT&T is that I can get text to email/visual voicemail from tmobile. At&t ended it years ago, so I was paying 5 bucks a month to youmail to keep that function. Also someone posted a screen shot where they had ring doorbell notifications and there were like 4-5 ring icons side by side at the top of the screen. I'm not use to all that clutter. I normally just see the one icon and then the multiple notifications for it when I swipe down. I'm hoping there is some way to customize them so I don't have to swipe individually to close or have a busy look.

The good ole days:

You can use quick reply for most notifications. No need to open the app, just reply right from within the notification.

OMG, you poor thing. You were paying for that?

You have total control over notifications and how they display. Install Good Lock. If i were you, i would take a day to watch all the videos you can find on this device, One UI 4.0/4.1 and Good Lock. Flossy is a good reviewer. This chic is good too.

And watch some videos on Samsung Notes and Dex.

I'm watching videos. The phone I have now runs android, so it's not entirely new to me, but blackberry had a more elegant solution.

Yeah I was paying for it. I think even when at&t had it it may have been an extra 1-2 dollars per month. I don't think they ever supported visual voicemail on the phone where it would appear in the hub. Once google forced software changes, no visual vms from any would appear in the hub. I don't like calling in to get my voicemail. I have a friend that I love dearly, but she whines a lot and the sound of her voice drives me nuts. So with youmail I got the emails and then I could also just open the app or click the notification and listen to it if the translation seemed off. I have the same function with Tmobile at no cost.

There's actually 2 different red colors
One is a bright lipstick/red
And the other is like a dark burgundy/red
If you have time, check out Bestbuy
They should have multiple colors already on display to look at
I actually like the Burgundy red the most
But the wait was too long if I bought it (over 1 month)
Some of the colors are exclusives, & only available ordering from Samsungs website though

I ordered the sky blue. It should arrive the first week of April. I figure the majority of folks are going to buy from their carrier or get a carrier branded phone since some of them had better trade in deals. I wanted mine unlocked anyway. I heard samsung has a lot of bloatware as is and that + carrier bloatware is not something I wanted to deal with. If the blue green exists that probably would have been my first choice, followed by burgundy or white if I had to go with the carrier colors. I've been wanting a red phone for a while, but the s22 red isn't sexy to me. It's too orange. More like a coral.

I wanted a pretty red like this:

If I had seen this case before I bought my phone I may have gotten a different color. The red is richer, and the back is clear:

https://ghostek.com/products/atomic-slim-s22?variant=402706276352537

I have 3-4 cases coming with the phone, but I think I'm going to shell out the money and get the Atomic above in prismatic. All the cases I ordered, except the one clear one, don't let you see the color of the phone, and this is the first case I've seen that I think will offer some protection if dropped. They see the Ghostek via amazon also.

I had the samsung credit I had to use so I got the blue silicone with the orange strap, the light gray LED, the clear standing cover and the navy standing cover. After seeing the reviews, I don't think I'm going to like the last one and none of them seemed like they would really protect the phone. I got a wireless charger also. I've missed wireless charging since my Palm Pre was no longer supported. I think I'm going to get another type that sits up like this:

Amazon product ASIN B08LVSFN4X
B08LVSFN4X

Samsung makes one but they didn't have it on their site, so I don't know if the tech is outdated on theirs or not.

SMH. Getting a new phone is like having a child. Expensive. I was supposed to continue to be child free for at least another year, but BGOL spoiled my plans with this thread. I used to get so excited about new phone tech, but once I got my blackberry I was straight. I wasn't even tempted. This is the first phone that has brought back some excitement. The features are outstanding. I just don't like boring slab phones. No personality at all and now 30% of America is going to have the same phone. That screen is pretty tho.

Case kinda chunky. I usually get thin cases

@michigantoga i got another quick settings question if you know.

Any way to make all apps go full screen and the cut out without clicking each individual one to set it? Seems like another setting I lost, cause all my old apps did on my other Note.

the S series was always the "girls" phone to me...LOL. It was Note or bust since the 3 for me. This is my first S series phone

Bruh, the only reason I jumped was at the time I think AT&T was giving one away (BOGO) and my wife briefly switched from iPhone over so she wanted us to both get one. For over a year I cringed til the Note 10 came out, preordered that chit the minute it went on sale.

I don't know how Samsung don't understand we will kill a mofo if they stop the Note. They crazy when they didn't drop one last year.

Some may get a phone constantly because it's the latest thing. Not for me. It runs my biz almost entirely. It's more of a need for me and the Note has served me in that capacity for over a decade. It's my "office"

Nope, been looking for it. The settings are much different in this framework.

They added a few better ones, but mine will be rooted soon!
