It always hurts to lose one of the pillars of the grand mansion of Black culture, even though all of us are predestined a time to die.
Still, with many of our icons- Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Prince, Basquiat, Donny Hathaway, Minnie Riperton, Phyllis Hyman, Whitney Houston, Luther, Rick James, Tupac, Biggie, etc leaving here before old age - it feels like their endings were premature. One wonders how creative culture would have been shaped had some of them not left so early.
Quincy Jones was truly blessed to lead a full life and fulfill his artistic purpose.
