I remember being stationed in Iwakuni, Japan in 89. One of my white officers in my unit saw me in the exchange in the music sections. He asked me if he should buy this album. I told him yes and this will be a classic. He did, and dude was down ever sine I knew him.
r.i.p. to a legend, an icon....a total visionary. 91 years of life and just being able to spread his energy, love and influence i'm sure was a blessing to all those who knew him and got a chance to be in his presence. R.I.P.
RIP to a talent for the ages. One of the low points in the history of this board was the 8-10 page, multi-day, on-going argument that Kanye West was the musical equal to Quincy Jones. That bad memory aside, what a wonderful storehouse of musical treasures to leave to the world.
