Missouri native Cedric the Entertainer shared his thoughts on Ferguson in a Wall Street Journal interview today. The comedian said that this is instructive of how “policing in the African-American community is getting a bit aggressive” across the country, and that should invite a national discussion about how policing in black neighborhoods.

As for the Ferguson case specifically, he wants to hear out all the facts of the case because, as he said, “There appears to be a little posturing in the sense that you kind of instantly divide lines. The police have a side and then the victims have a side and people aren’t really trying to find out what the truth of the matter is.”:smh:

He said that if Officer Darren Wilson was just “doing his job,” then he shouldn’t be convicted. But on the other hand, he worried that “you don’t want someone to have an advantage because they’re on one side of the system.”

Sheryl Underwood calls afro hair “nasty”

Talk-show host and comedian Sheryl Underwood caused an uproar in the Black community, when she made a derogatory reference to Black hair in a August re-run episode of CBS’s “The Talk.” In the segment, co-host Sharon Osbourne highlighted the fact that model Heidi Klum saves the hair after her biracial children get a haircut.

Underwood responded,“I’m sorry but why would you save afro hair? You can’t weave in afro hair. You ain’t never seen us at the hair place going, ‘Look here, what I need is the curly, nappy beads.’ That just seems nasty.”

To make matters worse, when co-host Sara Gilbert added that she also saves her children’s hair, Underwood responded, “Which is probably some beautiful long silky stuff. That’s not what an afro is.”

"Reverend, part of your legacy is that you marched with Dr. King peacefully, non-violent protests," he said. "What has changed in our culture and our society that people result -- resort to things that played out here last night in Ferguson?"

"You do know that when Dr. King was alive we had the Watts riots and the Newark riots and the Detroit riots and Chicago," Jackson responded, adding that "police action triggered those riots."
