We just finished watching episode 5.
I was hoping for 'rainbows and unicorns in the valley' for this episode
but nope for the most part; the writers are keeping it gully
just like the video game.

I liked the way they handled Joel’s injury in the show. Curious to see how they will handle the remainder of the season.

Great character development. And it is super important that they develop the relationships to these characters.

It’s literally the crux of the entire story.

Damn that's pretty good at staying close to the source material. I definitely appreciate that

This was/is one of my favorite games because the acting and storytelling was far beyond anything out at that time.

There are a couple of games out now that have similar acting standards (The last 2 God of War games, Red Dead Redemption 2).

Shit, the Last of Us 2 hits the same acting notes as the original to me.

Man I am into episode one and already I am hooked, it reminds me of a more fleshed-out version of the girl with all the gifts and that's a compliment.

I'm liking the show so far. Looks like we getting some DLC next episode :giggle:

The last episode was kinda boring...hopefully, it picks up...
This week will be a slow episode since it looks to mostly cover the dlc, not sure if that'll be intercut with current timeline but if not it'll be about the pace of the gay ep. Two eps after that should be intense and violent (although there's not telling since they've neutered the violence from the game in this show)

Episode 6 - 7

Watched these two last night before going bed.

Joel and Ellie continue on to find the Firefly’s and Tommy. They eventually do. We got confirmation Ellie is not sick when that dog approached her.

Joel and Tommy still have drama they been holding onto for the past 20 years. Tommy made it clear he is not the same person and now has a family. Joel broke down from his recent anxiety attacks which most likely are from the effects of the PTSD having to deal with what he has been going thru for the past 20 years, unlike Tommy who has been living the good life.

Joel gets severely wounded and is close to dying. He tells Ellie to go on. She starts to which leads into a flashback episode of Ellie in Boston prior to meeting Joel.

She was a recruit in FEDRA. She hooks up with a friend that went AWOL. Her night escaped gives us details on how she got infected. We also learned she is a lesbian/bisexual during this.

The episode ends with her returning to Joel to help him.

Looks like two episodes left, I will wait to both debut and watch for my final review.

And yes…..like expected…The Agenda Nutjobs are having multiple orgasms and foaming in the mouth cuz of episode 7. News outlets are reporting it.

HaHa!!!

What do you want out of the show? Have you played the game? It's really slow when you're not fighting against an infected.

I really like the show, but there is one thing these new shows do that drives me nuts.

"Ok, we're going to build up to this really compelling moment in the story where you're going to wonder what are they going to do???

ANNNNDDD now we're going to take a break from all that and take a leisurely, and whimsical jaunt down memory lane to show you some wondefully fun things about our characters!!!

Joel hurt and now you want to spend an entire episode - one of the few remaining - to focus on Ellie's hight school days? Come on son.

I actually fast forwarded through most of the episode and picked it up near the end.
