I really like the show, but there is one thing these new shows do that drives me nuts.

"Ok, we're going to build up to this really compelling moment in the story where you're going to wonder what are they going to do???

ANNNNDDD now we're going to take a break from all that and take a leisurely, and whimsical jaunt down memory lane to show you some wondefully fun things about our characters!!!

Joel hurt and now you want to spend an entire episode - one of the few remaining - to focus on Ellie's hight school days? Come on son.

I actually fast forwarded through most of the episode and picked it up near the end.
I know it seems to slow things down but these little tangents have a very big effect on the entire show. The more you can humanize the characters and understand their motivations the more you care about what happens to them. The pay off of building the story comes later.
It's like Story foreplay. :giggle::giggle:

What do you want out of the show? Have you played the game? It's really slow when you're not fighting against an infected.
Most of these people have never played the game, or they did and they didn't pay any attention to the story.

Some of you are getting more annoying than the Game of Thrones book readers. It is not a requirement to read the source material to enjoy every nationally syndicated show.

What do you want from the show? What could make it better? I see a lot of "the show sucks" but when asked for some improvements or what could be done differently, I don't get an answer.

I'm tired of getting force-fed homosexuality. Did we really have to see 2 high school girls kissing? Or the two guys earlier. We see way more homosexuality than Black man- white woman relationships nowadays. There is a reason for that.

1.) Less Homosexuality.
2.) Better transition for Time Periods. I like how The Walking Dead transitioned time periods multiple times in an episode.

Why did you specifically mention white women. You'd rather see that than black man black woman...huh

I'm referring to what is NOT shown on TV as far as relationships. The main things that i'd personally like to see on TV are healthy Black families and Black men in leadership roles outside of sports.

You make a good point.

The issue is when Hollywood attempts to make that content, Black folks don’t watch it.

Its one of the reasons 50Cent keeps pumping out “Daddy In Jail, Momma on Crack” content.

Black folks eat that shit up.

We eat the food we are given. Rappers can rap about anything as long as the beat is catchy. Mumble rappers are evidence of this. It is easier to put positive images of us in movies than to crowbar homosexuality into them.

I'm just mad that in a couple weeks it's gonna be "ok, that's it....until Sept 2024....or 2025....whenever we get to it!"

.

Show is just fun to watch, all y’all saying it’s boring have ADHD . All them corny superhero and action movies got you all fucked up. The visuals and acting in here is great. Seeing that old abandoned mall was dope to look at and took me back to highschool.

Oh I get that. And I'm not mad about slowing the story down. I'm saying pick better times to do them. You don't get your audience on the edge of their seats waiting to see what happens next and then go off on a different tangent.

The whole thing I was wondering the whole episode was "how's Joel?" I din't give a single fuck about what happened to Ellie in high scool at that point.

Now if they had done this episode right after Sam died, it would have made more sense to me.

Storm Reid isn't concerned with homophobic The Last of Us fans: 'We are telling important stories'

"It's 2023. If you're concerned about who I love, then you need to get your priorities straight."

The homophobic backlash to episode 3 of HBO's The Last of Us, "Long, Long Time," was as predictable as it was disappointing. The love story of Nick Offerman's Bill and Murray Bartlett's Frank prompted some viewers, the ones upset over its depiction of a gay relationship, to review-bomb the hour of television on aggregation sites like Metacritic.

As her own featured episode approached, bringing with it more prominent queer representation, Storm Reid admits the inevitable homophobic response did cross her mind. However, it's not something the actress, 19, is concerned about.

"Like Bella said when episode 3 came out: If you don't like it, don't watch," Reid tells EW, referring to her costar Bella Ramsey's comments to GQ U.K. "We are telling important stories. We're telling stories of people's experiences, and that's what I live for. That's what makes good storytelling, because we are telling stories of people who are taking up space in the world."

Episode 7 of The Last of Us introduces Reid as Riley in an origin story of sorts for Ramsey's Ellie. Based on the events of Left Behind, a DLC released for 2013's The Last of Us video game, the episode flashes back in time to when Ellie was training to become a FEDRA soldier in the Boston QZ. Riley, her roommate and best friend, has been missing for several weeks when the episode begins, but she returns one night by sneaking through the window of Ellie's dorm room.

Riley, who we discover has joined the Fireflies and will soon be leaving Boston, wants to share one more special night with Ellie. They break into an abandoned mall and pal around on the carousel, the arcade, the "moving stairs," and the photo booth, culminating in Ellie and Riley's first kiss.

"It's 2023. If you're concerned about who I love, then I need you to get your priorities straight," Reid says of anyone upset by Ellie and Riley's relationship. "There's so many other things to worry about in life. Why are you concerned that these young people — or anybody — love each other? Love is beautiful, and the fact that people have things to say about it, it's just nonsense."

"Left Behind," like many episodes of The Last of Us, teases the tear ducts. Moments after their kiss, Riley promises Ellie that she won't leave with the Fireflies. She'll stay with Ellie in Boston. Then an Infected, woken by their night in the mall, attacks. The girls subdue it, but both have been bitten. Crying and a lot of rage ensues, but they eventually agree to sit with each other and wait until they both go mad from the infection. Viewers, however, know by this point that Ellie is immune, so she will be forced to watch the object of her affection turn into a monster.

The story is a pretty faithful adaptation of the Left Behind DLC. Reid, known for roles in Euphoria and Missing, says the episode wasn't about altering the character of Riley. "Maybe just adding a little bit more life to her, whether it was things that I said or the way that I moved or interacted with Ellie," she continues. "Basically how Riley took up space is what I wanted to try to hone in on the most. I think I did that just by stepping into her shoes and trying to become her and experience her given circumstance and not neglecting how I would feel in that situation."

She took some cues from Riley's costume, which is slightly different than it is in the game. There's some visual similarities between her and Marlene (Merle Dandridge), which doesn't feel like an accident. Marlene recruited Riley to join the Fireflies. It would make sense for this young girl to idolize her in some ways.

When asked about that aspect, Reid says, "I think the clothes definitely informed how Riley moved and I think it was a great reflection of her personality. She's a badass and she's gonna stand up for what she believes in and she is going to fight and she's going to take risks. She's living in this apocalyptic world, but she's still cool. She still has a swag about herself, and I love that."

Reid came into the world of The Last of Us with no knowledge of the games and their legacy. After reading the script, she looked up the source material and got the sense that this was something big. "I called my older brother who plays video games. I was like, 'Have you ever played this game?' He was like, 'Yeah, I know about this game,'" she recalls. "And then I told my friends on campus who are boys" — Reid attends the University of Southern California — "and they're like, 'Oh my God! That's my favorite game of all time.' I'm like, 'OK, this is something that I need to pay attention to.'"

More than that, it was the representation that attracted her to the show. "I'm not only representing women. I'm representing young Black women and I'm representing young queer women that are experiencing new feelings and new relationships," Reid says. "We are on the tightrope of a friendship and having a crush, or is it a crush? Is it just flirtatious energy? There's just so much that goes into the complexity of what the episode is. And furthermore, the complexity of what Ellie and Riley's relationship is I find just so beautiful."

That's why Reid is preemptively putting any kind of backlash out of her mind. "I'm sure people are gonna have things to say on Sunday," she says, "but I don't care because I'm proud of what we did and I'm proud of the story that we told and I'm proud of the people that we're representing."

So a show thats based on game that had these characters and STORIES FROM 10 YEARS AGO and noone gave a shit becuase 3/4 of you dudes never even wanted to play the game

now is somehow part of an gay agenda ??

So the gays have future powers? - they could see this show was gonna be made 10 years ago and they knew it was gonna be popular so they stuck gay storylines in it to further their agenda .....

They didn't add any gay shit, those people were already gay. I don't like seeing kids get hurt, but I wouldn't demand they omit Joel's daughter getting killed. The story is the story, the characters are the characters.
The time jumps are weird, but I see why they did the DLC episode when Joel was hurt. They can't do it as the last episode because it would have to be spliced in with the hospital.

She's dope, did a great job on the Left behind episode.
It was probably my favorite episode since the premiere. Her and Bella have bright futures ahead, show Is full of talent.
The white chic looks like she has down syndrom, its cute while she is young but I don't think she will be getting the lead role love interest when she is older.

Lol she's def got a funny look about her but hell there's many ugly white actresses :giggle:

Frances McDormand comes to mind, sure she won't be playing wonder woman or Juliet, but I see Bella having a bright future nonetheless.

So basically the 7th episode was the DLC companion game
The Last Of Us: Left Behind.

Now, I am not going into who played and who didn't play the video game bullshit scenario
on this board. However, I believe the writers added Ellie flashback to follow the timeline of the story.

In the video game, after the University act/chapter; in which Joel got injured,
the next scene goes to the Lakeside Resort chapter(possible next episode?). According
to many gamers, the DLC was best played after then University scenes. The reason
for this, is that the DLC explains Ellie's journey better on her leveling up on her survival skills.
This is why the 3rd episode was so disappointing, not just because of the stupid love gay story
between Bill and Frank. In the video game, Joel and Ellie interacted with Bill after Frank
ran away. This interaction was integral in the survival relationship between Joel and Ellie.
Another thing that I didn't like of the 3rd episode, was the introductions of the Bloaters.
The episode would have been more better if Joel, Ellie and Bill fought the Bloater.

Me personally, I liked this episode. It somewhat showed the importance of Ellie knowing Marlene
through her best friend Riley. Also, the 7th episode explains on how Ellie got beaten and she killed
the 3rd stage of an infected Clicker.

Frances is probably top five women actors of all time. Fargo, Three Billboards, Women Talking, Macbeth...she's amazing.
