When we checked out The Wire in full about 2 years back ... he said - "Yeah, that's one of the greatest series of all-time!"
We watched it over the course of a few months. We'd usually watch an episode or two together, and I'd give him 1 - 3 eps on his flashdrive to check out later that week, then we'd pick up later in the season the following week.
He joked he was surprised he never spoiled it for himself a good 15 - 20 years after the seasons had initially aired. Saying he knew it was ALWAYS on the critics' Top 10 lists historically, just that he'd never gotten around to it as he's never had access to HBO, and isn't very tech-savvy.
