I haven't had a chance to check out the first few eps of Reacher (season 3) yet, but I did start these series when visiting pops.

We are enjoying both, and the One Thousand Blows series is from the creator of Peaky Blinders who also wrote the screenplay for Eastern Promises.

I'm not fully sure, but it looked like the bar used in it was one of the main ones featured in Peaky Blinders.

I gotta start and finish those 6 eps of A thousand Blows while i only have 3 weekly shows right now before March comes and I'm going to have a ton

Agreed. I'm trying to tackle a few series, as I still need to get around to a number of the Oscar nominated movies.

Finished Bookie and Cobra Kai recently. Watched Say Nothing before that, as well as Laid.

Currently working on Paradise, The Pitt, and A Thousand Blows.

Need to circle back to Cross and Interior Chinatown, and of course the new season of Reacher.

Pleasantly surprised at All-American.

They have refreshed that show in a very good way.

The storyline for season 7 is very intriguing.

Yeah I just still wonder why they kept Coop in LA, i really thought they would've sent her to NYC with the rest of the Vortex that's all there now especially with Spencer playing in the NFL there and Patience on Broadway out there

A Thousand Blows is a British television drama series created by Steven Knight about the Forty Elephants, an all-female crime syndicate clashing with the world of illegal bare-knuckle boxing in 1880s London. The first series premiered on 21 February 2025 on Disney+ internationally and on Hulu in the United States. In February 2025, ahead of the series premiere, it was renewed for a second series.

Set in the East End of London in the 1880s, the series follows the Forty Elephants, an all-female crime syndicate led by Mary Carr, who specialize in shoplifting and confidence tricks, and who clash with Henry "Sugar" Goodson, the self-declared emperor of the East End's illegal bare-knuckle boxing world.[1] Additionally, Hezekiah Moscow, a newly immigrated man from Jamaica with ambitions to become lion tamer, and his best friend Alec Munroe, fight for survival as they come into contact with both groups.[2][3]

Damn - seemed like the show had found its groove in the 2nd season. Don't think it was too costly a show to make either as it was mostly situations / scenarios in the SUV, at houses, in the office, at restaurants, etc.
Far to many great shows especially comedies get canceled so frigging fast.

Sidebar... Lorre stopped making the end cards jinxed it

Crazy coincidence right?

The minute Lorre does that?

After a damn decade of success

Making peace with Sheen

Getting an early 2nd season renewal

Insane reviews

He throws a fit about those cards a unique trademark concept he invented

The minute he stops it?

Cancelled

Indeed. Pedigree even dates back 30 years ...

Yup

That mean seen it all and if HE can't even get 3 seasons on a CRITICALL ACCLAIMED sit com on streaming?

We STILL don't know what the real ratings are. Or real budgets.

This whole game is f*cked.

Side note - my dad noted he really liked the series Mom during its run. Said it was well written surrounding AA / addiction, etc. He would know as both my parents are recovering alcoholics, and the disease runs in the family (dad's father, uncles, aunts, a cousin or two).

I SAW this show. It was very funny.

NOT for everybody.

The mom had a black brother she never knew about. Very funny.

I wonder if it's streaming anywhere

That's the thing re: streaming. Never quite know what the TRUE numbers are.

Apparently Landman on Paramount+ was a huge smash ... but I'd like to see the real, true data.

And often the media / entertainment podcasters and critics joke that when Netflix or who(m)ever tells us about minutes watched ... it doesn't really help us much. "2 billion minutes watched of this series!!!!!!!!!!"

And they reply - "But is that a SMALL number watching everything, and rewatching? Or EVERYONE watching just a few minutes and turning it off because it's dissapointing?"

Good point.

Is it possibly still just in regular network syndication / reruns?

I think my dad caught up after the fact, and then tuned in when it aired live in the latter part of its run.

I emailed my pops about the cancellation and his reply was - "It's odd because the show won't be truly missed. Not because it was bad, but because unfortunately not enough people knew about it. Funny show. I enjoyed the stuff they got up to on the show. Thanks for introducing me to it."

Not the true numbers but we tend to know what are the "flagship" shows for each platform tho like Squid Game and Stranger Things for Netflix. GoT/HOTD and Euphoria for MAX. The Powerverse shows for Starz. I haven't watched any of them but i guess Taylor Sheridan shows are it for Paramount+?

Yeah - he's got some type of mega deal(s) with them. Yellowstone, Lioness, Bass Reeves, 1883, 1923, Mayor of Kingstown, Landman.

I've got a ski mask somewhere and need to pay a visit to Texas or wherever the fuck.

yeah I remember reading an article about how many others seen how Dick Wolf and Jerry Bruckheimer have been the 2 that have built personal fortunes around $1B from the TV universe model but it'll be difficult going forward to do due to the change in the landscape. They did say that Chuck Lorre, Taylor Sheridan, and Shonda Rhimes are the 3 that are the closest to getting to that level right now and all have already made well into the 9 figures with their tv universes. I know 50 cent wants to as well but he's far from that level so far

Indeed. Often hear Ryan Murphy's name brought up too. Him and Shonda have done quite well with ABC & Netflix, and FX too for Murphy.

I was listening to a podcast episode from TV's Top 5 (now defunct) from The Hollywood Reporter in recent years, and they were talking to the showrunner from All American in one of their Showrunner Spotlight segments.

She was explaining the process when talking / pitching with the networks and streamers. Basically the process being you're going there showing how you've mapped out a story over say 3 - 5 seasons, with the potential for a spinoff sequel or prequel, or more. How important I.P. and franchise is ... and I think alot of us have noticed that with HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, FX, Showcase, AMC, and others over the years ... actually allowing a show to find its footing and audience, and build on it.

The problem often with ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox is they can stuff too early due to lower ratings.

Kenya Barris also has a TV Universe but idk if he's gotten the mega deals like Lorre, Sheridan and Rhimes have

Barris has created numerous television shows, including the critically acclaimed Black-ish. The award-winning series also has two spin-offs, Grown-ish and Mixed-ish,[7] and a third potential spin-off Old-ish.[8] He was a writer for The Game, Girlfriends, and Soul Food.[7][5][9] Barris co-created and produced America's Next Top Model with Tyra Banks.[10] He penned the film Girls Trip. He co-produced the 2019 film Little[11] and co-wrote the screenplay for the 2019 theatrical release Shaft.

In 2020, Barris made his acting debut in #BlackAF, a series he developed for Netflix, co-starring Rashida Jones and Iman Benson.[12][13][14] In October 2020, Barris announced that he would write, produce, and direct a biopic on comedian Richard Pryor for MGM.[15]

Also in 2020, it was reported his production company, Khalabo Ink Society, was considering a deal with ViacomCBS.[16] His company entered a multi-project development deal with Audible in 2021.[17]

In 2021, it was reported that Barris was developing a potential television series, Brown-ish, with Eva Longoria.[18]

In August 2022, it was announced that Barris would write and direct a modern remake of The Wizard of Oz.[19] In January 2024, he confirmed that he finished penning the script for the film and announced that he is also in development on a modern remake of It's a Wonderful Life, with the intention to cast a person of color in the lead role of George Bailey.[20]
