According to my tape deck neither did Hammer

Summertime
Brand New Funk
Men In Black
Parent's Don't Understand
Gettin' Jiggy With It
Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble
Ring My Bell
The Things That You Do
Boom Shake The Room

I see where you coming from though regarding Will Smith. Hammer is wack but extremely high energy. Hammer has calmer songs but his biggest hits were high energy songs. Will is overall more balanced and better overall but does not blow you away in any category because he is very marginal. I still think this would be a vs.
Vs is a 20 song format tho
They not gonna cut it

Pretty much, during that time period with Yo MTV Raps and Rapcity they played East Coast and whatever from the West and South was available.

So many were listening to East Coast rap because that’s what was available.
Exactly my point. I know people were playing their regional artist but there is no way east coast artist weren't being play and that more than a few were getting love.

I still want to see:

Rakim Allah vs. Big Daddy King Asiatic Noone Equal. This has been over 30 years in the making.

De La Soul vs. ATCQ

Brand Nubian vs. Poor Righteous Teachers

DJ Quik vs. MC Eiht(this could get testy, has to be on unity shit glad they civil and no one got hurt)

MC Lyte vs. Queen Latifah

The Fresh Prince vs. MC Hammer

Kid N' Play vs. Salt N' Pepa(make it intergender)

On the diva side:

Chaka Khan vs. Stephanie Mills

Anita Baker vs. Sade
Them some boring ass battles. I could actually see Rakim and Kane doing it though. That would be a good battle but I don't know if it would get the numbers Versus seems to want.

Jeezy called out Nas vs. Hov that would be crazy

I mean if we being honest.......there's a few battles that can happen but like them battles that will stop the world? Jay and Nas is up there.

I want to say Eminem in some form of fashion but his music is its own lane the people that made the type of music he did just don't compare to him so it would be hard to find someone to battle him.

For sure Jay vs Nas.

Jodeci is another one like you want to put them in a battle I just don't know who's worthy. I know some groups just as good but I don't know if they are the name like Jodeci.

I think TIP vs Wayne CAN be good. Still though....ain't nothing topping Jay V Nas.

r. kelly is the elephant in this conversation if he didn't have those pedo vibes and in jail, he could have washed alot of R&B artists

I think he’s out of the conversation because of the restrictions and limitations in granting him access to the internet and Instagram while in prison.

Plus this whole covid thing, it’s just safer not to risk it for the staff, camera crew and everyone involved.

He's another one...there's nobody that really compares to him to even battle. Most quality r&b acts are his students. Maybe he and Usher could've done it?

Yeah. Usher has enough hits to make it a competition but Kelly's catalog is so much deeper

Which is crazy to think. Usher got 20 in the catalog to go up against with Robert but it just not no fair battle. And Usher probably dusts anyone that goes up against him just with Confessions alone that's what's crazy. He dusting anyone but Robert dusting him.....

Yep.

on a different note, I'm surprised Usher couldn't make the leap. I thought he'd be a cat who would have a long ass career... but he missed the latest jump and his music sounded dated.

If Kellz wasnt in jail, you know he'd have a hit out right now....nigga would have a 10 video quarantine series

Future & Young Thug don't have no hits, their known for a few songs but those aren't hits there just some songs that were pushed and got played.

Mobb Deep Vs BlackMoon....they both got hits, started around the same time and they have strong crews behind them that atleast put out singles if not an album.

Negative...he don't have enough hits to even behin to compete with R.Kelly. R.Kelly competition are people like Michael Jackson, Prince, etc...that level.

R. Kelly could save orginal songs and play remixes instead and would be killing folks.

Yeah... and I don't think anyone would even try to take that battle.. everyone would pass..

man.. whatever that dude did in his life if another story, but that dude really makes great, era-defining music... and any type of music.. i mean Kellz got Country tracks
