The ONLY reason #oscarssowhite even became a thing is becuz JADA made it a thing when her husband got snubbed for concussion I think?

remember that video she made threatening to leave or boycott the oscars?

And the night her husband FINALLY gets a pat on head from white daddy he slaps another black man live on stage.

Dude...THE MIND FUCK IS REAL!!
Listen, everyone looks for validation of some sorts from their peers. Awards help people show that they did a great job

Think of it like a championship ring. Barry Bonds has said on numerous occasions that he would trade all his home runs for a ring. That ring validates a career of hard work, especially for a great player

As an actor, the Oscar and the Emmy has always been the bar for doing a great job on a show or movie. It's not always equal or Fair.

Al Pacino got fucked out of the Oscar for Godfather Part 2 and they made the over-correction by fucking Denzel out of the Oscar and giving it to Al Pacino when Denzel deserved it for Malcolm X

They fucked over Denzel Washington again giving the Oscar to Casey Affleck when Denzel deserved it for the movie Fences.

It's not fair, but it does help validate you to your peers that you did a great job

I see nothing wrong with being happy for being given an award. If I ever win an Oscar I'm going to be excited

I don’t think he really should care about the ban. It may cause a few controversies when a film that he is involved in is nominated but they may only draw up interest.

I think it’s over now. Let this thread die mayne. The slapped and the slapped are moving on.

other shit happening.

No one is going to want him in their movie if having him will disqualify the movie from a Oscar.

looking at the history of hollywood and the history of american society as it pertains to black people means getting an award only AFTER there was stink made about not getting any recognition in the first place kinda makes winning one bitter sweet. Also your point proves that winning or getting snubbed has as much to do with with socio-political agendas and arbitrary decisions as much the creative aspect...its the reason why Do The Right Thing, a confrontational raw look at race relations, lost out to Driving Miss Daisy, a softer more sentimental look at the same thing for BEST PICTURE. And so Spike getting one some 30 years later probably for a work that didn't really deserve it makes the whole thing just.....fake :dunno:

Also lets say Denzel never got nommed or won...according to you that means his work and career is less than expressly due to no recognition by his peers regardless of how well and how much he's done... is that what your really saying?

and peep this 2005 interview Chris Rock did with Letterman talking about the problem of hosting the oscars...
how well does this hold up??:lol::lol:

Fuck an Oscar.... Will is big box office draw, that will never change.... plus this controversy will only boost his popularity... people may be angry now but in weeks and months to come his acting skills and box office draw will still be in demand.

will's not drawing them in in the way he did 20 years ago...probably one of the reasons he started doing shit on social media...to try to stay relevant. I'm willing to be the last few flicks he did have done numbers in the same way as before..

Will Smith is suspect based on my interactions, I have detailed the murky activity he has engaged throughout his career. I caught some scheme they were utilizing against me, the next thing I know he is brought out doing the same thing for racial cover.

I have actually engaged in similar behavior but it took years and daily negative interactions for me to respond like this. If you provoke somebody, you should also be held to account. You can't run around terrorizing people with surveillance and harassment, we have laws one sided looking at the perp only. I would investigate Chris Rock, allow Will Smith to make his allegations against him for investigation.

The Works
Our second best package, the infamous works operation. A client said it best. “Watching the works under operation is like watching a person being drawn and quartered. Severe psychological warning, this package is only available for use on clients over 30 years of age.

Eviscerator

Unlike other packages which focus on many different areas, the Eviscerator focuses on one aspect of a subjects life for destruction. This can be personal, professional, religious, etc. Any single aspect a client would like dismantled is our pleasure to assist in the planning of. While doing so we ruthlessly tear apart the subjects at the instruction of our clients. This is a package for our more thoughtful clients, who know exactly how they want the subjects of the operations affected.

"Our chainsaw, their chest"

There are companies that specialize in destroying people like this.

Well, he just won an Oscar for best male lead role... so even though he may not be doing as many movies as years gone by his acting skills is still greatly respected....

... I will agree with you that his online antics doesn't help his image but without a doubt his acting skills can never be questioned....

... Will now needs to back off social media, lay low and just focus of producing, directing and sometimes acting in independent films... let people see and judge him only for his acting and film making skills and nothing else...

.... the problem though is attention is a hell of a drug and people in that business are addicted to attention... I just hope he now realise that he need to step back, evaluate and make big changes inn order to move forward.

He'll be alright. He can still win some type of award. He just won't be there to accept in person. And let's be real, it's not like he was gong to win a second Oscar anytime soon. He should still apologize to Chris Rock though. A real apology. I think how big of a movie they allow him to be in will depend on that.
A good route for Will might be one where he gets hands into humanitarian/social justice work. Do some PSA’s too for topics like anti-voter suppression. Help create housing for homeless. Begin to shift energy away from that slap and all the residue that came with it. Especially begin to develop a new relationship with Black-owned media and the Black independent film community.

If he did want to publicly face up to and resolve the current situation, an interview on Black owned media would not hurt. If he was to publicly apologize to Chris Rock directly as you suggested, let it come through those channels. It MIGHT help repair Will’s public image. It’d be up to Chris if he wanted to participate. I really think the window has closed for a public apology involving actually him speaking to Chris (virtually or face to face)) having maximum impact. That should have been done shortly after the incident.

Yes, I understand movies are not real. Yeah- I get that. They are also stories that resonate so deeply within us that they can make us laugh, cry- they can make us angry and afraid. How many people still won't swim in the ocean because of the movie Jaws? How many people turn on a flashlight in the dark and make the "Vroooohhmmm" lightsaber sound? How may people pretended to be Luke Skywalker or Maverick or Lando when they got behind the wheel of their first car?
For us to enjoy a movie, it has to "speak" to a part of us, and these "made up stories" and the messages they deliver can stay with us (for good or ill) for years, even throughout our lifetimes.

I say that to make this point:

Maybe I'm just crazy, but I can't wrap my head around an industry that glorifies violence, that promotes ass-kicking dudes who don't take no shit from anyone, heroes and vigilanties who protect the weak and leave a trail of bloody, broken bodies in their wake and do it with smarmy, snarky one -liners spoken as they pump people full of lead...

how that industry, where the most profitable genre is Action and the number 3 is Horror....is supposed to be mad and gonna "cancel" a guy who slapped another man. Not put a glock to someone's temple and recited the "path of the righteous man" shit before blowing his brains out..
he slapped a dude.

They wouldn't even put that in a movie these days, because it would be too tame.

Like- "Uh, we Have to announce that we are cancelling Will Smiths contract for MurderDeathKill part 4: Let the bodies hit the floor, because he slapped a guy in real life".

I just don't get it.
