It's interesting...

We all have known about the unique Wu Tang deal.

And how it was brilliant

But in real time?

EVERYTHING Waples said was 100% accurate

And it was crazy for any label to agree to it

Especially when we have all seen what they have done and continue to do to these artists.

I would have told RZA he was insane too.

U.S. Government Sells Wu-Tang Clan Album Once Owned By Martin Shkreli : NPR

MUSIC NEWS
Wu-Tang Clan Album Once Owned By Martin Shkreli Sold By U.S. Government

A handcrafted silver box by the British-Moroccan artist Yahya holds the only known copy of the Wu-Tang Clan double album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin.

The United States has sold the only copy of the Wu-Tang Clan album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin to an anonymous buyer. The price of the sale was also kept confidential.
The album was previously owned by Martin Shkreli, the infamous "Pharma Bro" who raised the price of a life-saving drug by 5,000 percent and was later convicted of securities fraud and sentenced to seven years in prison. He was forced to hand it over to the United States in 2018 as a part of a $7.4 million forfeiture judgement.

Wu-Tang Clan: Tiny Desk Concert

The announcement was made today by Jacquelyn M. Kasulis, the Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. "Shkreli has been held accountable and paid the price for lying and stealing from investors to enrich himself," said Kasulis. "With today's sale of this one-of-a-kind album, his payment of the forfeiture is now complete."

Shkreli purchased the 31-track album at auction in 2015 for a reported $2 million. It was promoted as a "unique work of art" with no physical or digital duplicate in existence, and included appearances from the wider Wu-Tang family from Redman to Killarmy. Upon learning that it was Shkreli who bought the album, Wu-Tang member RZA told Bloomberg that the group decided to give "a significant portion of the proceeds to charity."

I liked this last episode that showed how every member had different financial stuggles and the pressure was on.

Did not know U-god was that deep in the dope game.

Face really was a thief.

I've heard the Meth creating the CREAM hook before but to actually see it?

Saw an interview a while ago with Meth who told the story on how him and some other dude used to make up acronyms for slang phrases. This episode showed how it came to fruition. You can hear Meth (Dave East) give a shoutout to the dude at the end of his hook when he was in the booth.

Hell, Power & Divine said it early on when they were trying to decide which song to release first.

How many times in hip hop has THAT happened?

Where an artist glow shine and star quality was so blindingly obvious?

Busta with Leaders?

Ja with Cash money click?

ODB?

Snoop?

Tupac?

Jeezy with boys in the hood?

I think it happens with producers too...

Jazzy Pha?

Naw bro. Method Man is the superstar of the group. No one can deny that.

Yeah, around 1994 to 1996, Meth and Biggie were dropping verses on everybody shit, no doubt. Meth's fame fell a little after 1996-1997, Red and Meth shit kept his name buzzing a little.

ODB became a hotter ticket after his album dropped. There has not been anything close to ODB's stage presence or an album as "raw" as Return to 36 Chambers. Had he lived, hr woukd have outsold all the WU members. ODB had his own genre... No father to his style...

Funny thing about this is, he really didn't want to leave. It was originally Charlie Brown's crew, and Busta's star quality made him feel some knida way, because he was getting a lot of the attention. After trying to calm things down failed, Busta bounced.

Truth, but I could see a label exec thinking Charlie had that IT FACTOR too.

But anyone with am EAR?

Especially after that SECOND album?

The flows and just lyrical performances Busta had with every single damn track was ridiculous.

Charlie ain't even have the best verse on either scenario

Sidebar.. I still think Dinco verse and delivery is insane on that record.

I think I've heard Charlie admit it was ego and personal things that caused the break

Man. GFK is cool. But to say that just shows you are biased and don’t want to see what is in front of you. Method Man is the superstar out the group and never been out the spotlight when it compares to the other members. He has been on every HBO show except the Sopranos.
You might have a point when they first started out. GFK been the main draw since the new millenium tho
