Working on getting it down now.Oooh, yeah..good looking out.
That'll sound nice clean…
Just hearing him play it, I was able to figure out the riff without the tabs, in a few seconds..
For me, I’m so familiar with that riff, I can sound it out easily….same with most of the stuff I can play…
Its tunes I’ve heard for thousands of times, so I know the melody and notes clearly.
The classical guitar vid, above posted by @darth frosty, is nice….but it would take me awhile just to learn that song, before Id know how to play it.
Yes. You better have a serious strap playing with a Les Paul or Gibson. You saw the quality straps B.B. King played with. Even sitting down.

Bruh, strap locks are MAJOR!!! 1st thing I did when i got my Sadowsky bass was screw on black crome locks. Now that comes with chrome strap locks. When you get a $4000 bass dat muthafucka comin' wit strap locks. Nice ones too. With the Sunburst color though I think the black chrome looks better.Mannnn, did I tell you my ex boss gave me a beautiful leather strap…I put it on my Tele….and my baby damn near hit the ground.
no strap locks
i never thought they were important.
Thats why it’s easier for me to play sitting down.
I played my Mustang amp last week….tbh, I really didn’t like it much before, but that 65 Twin setting is niiice.
Now I wanna try either a twin, deluxe, or super reverb…I need to hear how much better a real tube amp sounds than a dsp.

Right. It's slowly but surely coming together for me as well. I just love playing so much man!!!!I can't think of the tune, but I had the same problem, until I did an up vs downstroke on the first note..
You wouldn't think it would make such a big difference, but I was like... that's how it's played.
Also noticed that I don't have to look at the frets, as much, when I'm playing. It's like I'm starting to trust my fingers![]()
It's good to learn how to do that stuff on your own no question. I'd rather take it to Guitar Center and let the professionals handle it. When I get my Gibson ES335 I'll take my Strat in for service and change of strings. Polish it up real nice, the works. I paid too much money to be fuckin around experimenting with these axes bruh. I'll let the pros handle mine.@jack walsh13 ...
Have you ever had your guitars professionally set up?
However mine came from the factory or from someone else is how I played them with little adjustment.
Ever since I first started playing as a kid, there were certain things I was afraid to touch...bridge, saddles, and ESPECIALLY the truss rod.
I mentioned about a few weeks ago that I was having major fret buzz on my strat, to the point it was unplayable...I tried moving the saddles and got nowhere.
I had two options: figure it out on my own or pay someone to do it..
Fortunately, this ain't an expensive ax, so I gave it a shot on my own...
I looked at dozens of YT vids with no luck. They all showed how to play with the bridge and saddles, but one mentioned that the neck may need relief...
Man, I crossed my fingers, got out the Allen wrench and loosened it some...then a lil more..
Bruh, you'd think I invented fire..mufuckin buzz GONE!

You make a good point here Black. That's why you need a hooptie..
Get a cheap Squier...you can learn on those and they're the same as your Strat...just cheaper parts.
I wouldn't try anything on my nicer ones, but an old guitar... sheeeid, I'll take that mofo completely apart...
I gotta work on my old Tele next.
I have to learn some of their songsBeen playing a lot of Earth, Wind, and Fire songs lately. Loving this Verdine White signature bass! Playing "Africano" right now.
You make a good point here Black.

Been fuckin wit the beginning of Al Green's Simply Beautiful. Man I had no idea till recently that's actually Al playing that intro on the guitarI've been messing around with the main riff to Sun Goddess recently and I'm pretty sure I got it..I'ma now look at the tabs to see how close I am.
Excellent points Black. Excellent points.IJS, bruh...
It's like being a race car driver...their skill is in driving, not fixing cars, but I imagine most know more than the basics of car mechanics.
Even pro musicians have to do work on their own gear...higher up on the food chain, you'll have a guitar tech on tour with you to handle maintenance...but even then, you want to tell them how you want it and not leave it up to them.
If it was me, I'd get a Squier Strat and P Bass and mod em both...you could get both for less than the tax you paid on ONE of your guitars![]()

I know I'm kind of late on this post and I hope everything is going good with you and the guitar the guitar is like an addiction to me but I would suggest this one guy by the name of Martin Taylor his books.... One book on Guitar and jazz guitar bass and another book on guitar chord Melody... These two books that I have of his teach theory and how to play at the same time is what I call applicable learning I'll post the books for you when I get![]()
![]()
I've been playing close to 30 years and I have to say those two books are some of the greatest applied theory... And in terms of musical ideas you mess with those books is guaranteed you'll be writing your stuff out whether it be with notes or tabGOOD
LOOKIN
OUT
Bruh, Walsh and I been playing for about the same time..@hnic pops in from time to time, and @DWBass and @woodchuck drop knowledge on the bass, but another cat who can share their knowledge on the guitar?
Sheeeid, glad you’re here.
DEFINITELY looking forward to those books!
