     Some of them do require a serious stretch using all four fingers I agree. But that Bm7 is easy. It's in the beginning of Harvest For the World and Marvin Gaye's After the Dance.

is8Nnu.jpg

The intro to After The Dance...the Fourplay version...

Ahh yeah...I gotta learn that one.

That riff is smooth AF

Yeah that intro is tight but I can't get it. It's C# but I can't put into proper rhythm for the song. I just can't hear it when I strum it. I don't have the right strum pattern

aUhjIo.jpg

I just looked at a cat playing it on YT and kinda figure most of it, by ear, just from the area on the neck he was playing.

I'ma try to get the rest later.

Give this a shot...left to right first line then second line

E 66 .B 8 E 66. E 66 E 11 E 686 h

B 9 9. E 7 9 B 9 7 9 b

(h) is hammer
(b) is bend

It's all played on E and B..listen to the Fourplay song.

Ignore the periods.

Thanks. Sounds accurate when you do it? I'm gonna try this.

Picked this up off a guy on Craigslist. Cort GB75JJ Damn near mint condition. Not a mark on it. I had been eyeballing these basses for several years but never pulled the trigger. The Cort factory basically makes most of the instruments coming out of Korea and now in Indonesia. I own a Cort factory made Lakland 55-01. Excellent instruments for great pricing.

I NEED TO LEARN THIS. I ALREADY KNOW THE BASELINE. THIS IS WHY I GOTTA GET A LOOPER ASAP!!!! I DIDN'T KNOW NILE ROGERS DID THIS SONG EITHER. :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

vGurmI.jpg

Ahh yeah...I learned that long time ago. I'm a huge Nile fan, so this was on the list in the first year...i had to read your post a few times cuz I found it hard to believe you didn't know Nile did this cut.

His playing is so iconic, I can tell his style within a few seconds of hearing one of his cuts...I think I knew he did Let's Dance, by Bowie, before I read about it....long time ago.

Matter of fact, I thought he did Cruel Summer, by Bananarama. That riff is so similar to his style, it's definitely influenced by him.

I see you up on Justin, on YouTube. Dudes a very good teacher. That's who I first started my lessons online with.

Bruh, did you get Amplitube or Garage Band? They both have a looper, among all the other stuff. For someone, like yourself, who plays multiple instruments, you NEED that now.

Are you using the Fender Tune app?

In another thread, today, I saw someone mention the Isley Bros' Footsteps in the Dark...I had to learn that intro.

Funny thing is I watched a dude on YT playing it and figured it out, before I even saw all the tabs.

I didn't get Amptitude or Garage Band yet. I have a tuner pedal. My 1st pedal. A Fender one. I somehow just didn't realize it was Nile. Not sure why. There's so many sounds out there once Ina blue one gets away from you and you don't connect the dots to who it is. Do you have to tune down your guitar for Footsteps In The Dark?

Bruh, I think I saw where you're supposed to tune it down...I think half step (?)...but I forgot, when I got into it so quick..

It sounds good, tho...I have my LP Special in my hands now, and it's tuned to Drop D..it sounds ok there, also.

Mannnn, check out those apps. You can add em for FREE and you can't go wrong with it. The only thing you'll need is an interface, like an irig...you can get em used for less than $20.

The only reason it won't work for you is if you don't have an iPad or iPhone...the latency sucks ass on Android.

I like the Fender Tune, cuz I keep it on my phone. So, wherever I am, I have my app to find chords, scales, and keep it tuned....or, if I just happen to be somewhere and see a guitar, I can get it in tune and start jamming on it. One less thing to carry around.

Oh that app helps you find chords? How does it work? You just type in the chord your looking for and it gives you the shape?

You don't have to write in the chord, there's a list of them from A-G... Sharps, minors, 7ths, etc..

If you wanna find a CMaj chord, for example, there's a section that lists the different type of C chords...and then gives you all the different shapes, up and down the fretboard...

So, if a guy is teaching a song and mentions a chord, but doesn't show it, I go on there and pull up the different shapes and find the one I wanna use.

Bruh, that app is invaluable to me. I prolly use it nearly everyday.

It's has scales also, a metronome...

And it's FREE! You know me, bruh. I look for deals and free shit every chance I can.

Don't trip, cuz I got the other Fender Play app...at one point, they offered it to me for free, for some reason, and I used it once and now i think there's a charge for it. I don't think I can even sign into it anymore.

But that's good you got it. Lemme know if you find any other cool features.

Like I said, I don't use it to its full potential.

Bruh...get that GarageBand!

If you have it, I think we can send files back and forth...I record a guitar lick and you can add it to yours and play over it.

I need you to lay down some bass licks I can funk up.

Hey, check THIS free app out…

So far, last night, I played Purple Rain, Good Times (Chic), Enter Sandman, The Thrill is Gone and Jimi Hendrix (Voodoo Chile and Little Wing) + messed with some Joe Pass and George Benson jazz presets. Sound quality is on point.

No problem. I'm loving that app.

Used to use an iRig 2 but now I use a PreSonus Studio 24c at home. When I play keyboards for a church, I use the iRig 2 hooked up to their 88 key keyboard controller to pull sounds off the iPad (Steinway D and Rhodes sounds from Korg Module and additional Rhodes and EP sounds from Neo-Soul Keys Studio 2 and V-Tines).

I've got about 120 FX apps that I've collected over the years. My main iPad DAW is Cubasis 3, but I come back to GarageBand often to snag drummer parts and samples to bring into Cubasis 3.

I dig Amplitude a lot and have used it on a number of gigs as well as recordings. A great alternative to Amplitude is Bias Fx. In addition to it having a looper, there's a guitar match feature which you can use to make whatever guitar you're using sound like a variety of different classic guitars. There's thousands of custom rigs that you can download too. It does a lot of things that Amplitude can't. Check it out if you get a chance. Both apps have their positives.

Sure no problem. I’d def drop into that thread when it manifests. That Clavinova looks REAL nice. I watched a demo. I like how it generates sheet music. I think you’re gonna really enjoy it.

I’m mostly an ear player. I sightread super slowly. But I can hear stuff and learn fairly quickly and know what chords and notes are being used. My skill set is vocals, guitar, keys and bass in that order.

Me, I plan to get a nice 88 weighted key keyboard controller as I like to pull my sounds from my iPad Pro or Mac. I mostly track with an old 76 key keyboard and a CME Xkey Air 25 Bluetooth Keyboard. If I want to lay down specific piano tracks, I hook up to my electric piano. Right now, this is looking mighty tempting:

Good lookin out on this!

Dude dropped so many gems... especially about rhythm and how to work around hitting the wrong note..

I kinda tried that a lil before, but I see how to work it now.
Sadly, he's such a beast, that he doesn't get the credit he deserves for his support playing. Just like Jimi Hendrix doesn't get the credit for being an amazing rhythm guitarist.
