I agree with everything else you said except #3.
Harriet Tubman stayed strapped & pulled a gat on many slaves who got too tired to finish the journey, or changed their mind halfway through. She is famously quoted as telling slaves during their journey: “You will be free... or die a slave.”
Now I can agree that she probably would NOT have taken Candice Owens since she was “too far gone”... but for argument sake, if Candice ever DID try to take the Underground Railroad with Harriet Tubman... and decided to ‘turn back’ at any point.... best believe Harriet Tubman would’ve put a few holes in her ass & left her in the woods to rot.
No way in Hell Harriet Tubman would’ve let Candice Owens jeopardize the Mission once it began.
For any reason.
Sshhheeeeiiiitttt.... If they just gotten just 1 MILE away from Massa’s plantation... and Candace started talking any of that slick shit, or tried to head back... Harriet Tubman definitely had some bullets in the chamber... with Candice’s name on ‘em.
You right, Harriet Tubman WAS about liberation... but she woulda gave Candace a dirt nap before she let her ‘go back’, or ‘run tell Massa’ what was happening.
Harriet woulda gave Candace a chance to make up her mind... (at gunpoint)... what would happen on that trip. Because
“there ain’t no refunds” on the Underground Railroad.
It’s a one-way trip. But the ‘final destination’ is up to Candace herself.
