for what role(s)? playing a project mom or a "uppity ghetto negress"? c'mon son, you're smarter than that. being able to pull off one role doesn't mean you would shine doing another one. and awards for playing something she might have experienced directly or indirectly doesn't make you a great actor. playing a hood cat shouldn't be hard for a cat that grew up in the hood. great actors are able to become their role so much so that you don't see them anymore but the character they're playing. not play the same person basically every role. for example, Ice Tea plays the same role whether he's a cop or criminal. Jeffrey White can go from playing Peoples Hernandez to Felix Leiter to Basquiat and nail each role. Monique does not have that range and probably never will. that said Viola Davis was good in her role as Waller but not the best choice for the role.
