No hate
If you want his old stuff and prefer a certain something that's ok this might not be for you and there's nothing wrong with that

If you're interested to see an artist progression and you're into that kinda stuff might be for you - like it is for me - which doesn't make me better than those who don't wanna fuck with it, just different and there's space for differences
There’s space for everything and everyone. The idea you should be pigeonholed is a very European idea.

Steve Martin, the unfunny comedian plays an instrument in his 70s. I think he even was nominated for a Grammy. Whatever that is.

yeah same here I'll check it out....might be similar to the artist created focus music on the "Headspace meditation" app...Erykah Badu and Madlib have their own mixes on there that I listen to regularly
I need to check that app out. I listen to that type of music, sometimes take a gummy, and put on my oculus to watch abstract images on YouTube.

listened to half of it before i had to bail.

it's not composed music.

its improv instrumentals with percussion and accompaniment.

"Well Buk, isnt that composed music?"

Technically yes, but this stuff doesnt have a goal.

it meanders and wanders thru notes meant to be background music to old Tarzan movie scenes.

or its meant to put you to sleep.

I agree with buk.... it's all over the place.... I have it on in my office as I'm working and it's literally just background noise.... nothing has really caught my attention, not once have I had to stop and focus on the music.... it's just, there

It's cool he's doing what makes him happy, so that I support... this shit ain't for me though... it'll get play if I'm just trying to relax or to focus at work, but it's strictly background noise to whatever it is I'm doing at the moment

I started playing the tenor sax in Jr High. I went to Locke High School in LA which was the baddest high school band in the land. I was first tenor. Then, I picked up classical flute in college. Then I picked up the bass guitar later on.

I said that to say... His flute playing is trash. To Hell with the nostalgia crap. It kind of sounds like he was experimenting with "Eastern Indians sounds etc... John Coltrane did something like this as well later on.

Now, I know that I can be a musical snob because I play, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt still. The flute is an instrument that can be full of expression. It was one the first instruments man ever played. (The drum is probably first, then the flute, blowing through reeds etc...)

When I think of flute players, I think of the diversity of the music and even the players.
If you're going to play it; Then Play It, Homie... Damn.
