Because You haven’t been paying attention.... all the days of intrigue, craft & cunning are in the past.
And the show is EVEN MORE intelligent than you even realize because you haven’t been keeping up.
They are FAR BEYOND the time for witty remarks & political intrigue now.

Especially if you looking through the script, STILL expecting some intrigue, or waiting for certain people to bring a “witty speech” or a “lengthy monologue”....... to a gunfight with automatic weapons.

Yall niggas kill me with the straw man argument. No one argued that the NK should have killed everyone with his bare hands. We're arguing that the main antagonist's storyline was brought to conclusion without covering his explicit intent nor requiring him to display the extremity of his capabilities. Thus, when he died the way he did, it left many viewers feeling let down. Multiple people in this very thread keep saying it in various ways. It's because the producers slightly missed the mark there... despite all those same people saying it was still the greatest episode they've seen. Yall are acting like real bitches in response to people saying "although it was great, I wish I would have gotten a little more of the NK considering the years run-up to his apex moment".
Just say you were satisfied with it and you through it was perfect. Stop all the bullshit with "what did yall want him to do?.... become Sub Zero". That's stupid.

I'm assuming we're going to at least get the NK's explicit intent in the next episode as we're going to get something from Bran because he was gone almost the entire time.

I get it lol. Believe me i do, but the greedy fan in me wanted to see a lil more. Like don’t show me a fight with Jon and Walker, his cool ass sword, drop a flying dragon from 100+ yards and then hit wash Theon under a second and then lose to Arya in 2 seconds
I think they’re definitely saving it for the spin offs. His story isn’t even important anymore because Cersei is alive and a threat
Yeah. That has to be it. It doesn't really matter to spend more time there retracing.
1. Since fire was so devastating to them, why even wait for them to begin hand to hand combat? As soon as they got lined up, get on the dragons and begin bbq'ing their asses.
2. Ok...you wait.....and now the red witch has lit the trench and they are lined up like lemmings afraid to proceed to the trench....get on the dragons and fly up and down the line bbq'ing their asses....but, nooooooooo, the most devastating weapons available are flying in the clouds doing dragon aerobatics while the white walkers lay down on the fire and rush the castle......kind of hard to burn them then after they are intermingled with allies.
3. And the NK can sense A jumping at him from behind without seeing her and grab her by her throat, but he can't use his other hand to grab the knife after it drops in the air.......she didn't do any incredible shit, she didn't use her 'no face' shit, she just used a damn scooby dooo move to kill the baddest muthafucka in the jungle......shit was weak.
Maybe it would have been better if I had seen it before reading all the post about it being the greatest episode ever, but it was good...nothing special....

That was amazing TV. I can't even think of any recent movie experiences that were that intense for such an extended period of time.
That felt like a season-ending moment, but we have 3 more episodes left and lots of people still need to die
Probably won't happen until episode 5, the next battle. I wonder is they going to do some type of time jump. In between the episodes.
The night king is done
Man... I started reading this series in college. Usually book-to-movie adaptations are trash and when GOT first came out I didn't have high hope's at all tbh. Cut to all these years later and we're now well past where the books ended... what a fucking journey. That was a really emotional episode, I'mma have to watch it again but the tension was off the hook all the way through. Looks like I've missed some great discussion here lately.
There’s no way you can watch last night’s episode without ADMITTING that....
Season 8 Episode 3 was a HUGE MIDDLE FINGER from the 2 Showrunners (Dan & Dave) to all the salty-ass Bookreaders & Contrarians who criticized the shit outta SEASON 5 & SEASON 6..... and called Arya’s whole storyline with the Waif BORING, and a WASTE of TIME.... or said some type of sideways shit about it.
Alot of those folks are SALTY AS FUCK today... because they had been shitting on Arya’s character development for the last 2-3 years. Not paying attention. And thinking that her story arc & abilities reached their climax when she took out Walder Frey & poisoned House Frey.
But killing the Night King was the Ultimate Payoff of her whole story arc.
They never saw that Coming.... when they we’re talking shit 3 years ago about the season 5 being wack.
She could NEVER have pulled that off without all the shit she learned in Seasons 5 and 6.
The naysayers were like: “The writers don’t know what the fuck they are doing without GRRM. This is ass. Season 5 sucks. Arya should never have survived a stab in the gut, like that In season 6.”
And Dan & Dave were like: HOLD MY MUHFUKING BEER

They are only human. What battle were you watching everyone was showing fatigue. She started slowing down and then she got surrounded. She had to get the fuck out of there.
nk didnt see her himself, another white walker saw her alerting him. And he fucked up by using both his hands. One to stop the blade and the other was around her neck. With her free hand she stabbed him. He even had a sense he knew he fucked up when she dropped it to her other hand.

Its to be expected, especially from the hardcore book readers. D&D have done great from what they have left to work with but they are no where near GRRM's level.
Book readers have to take what we got and be thankful for some sort of ending because either GRRM has lost it, or he has written himself in a corner and can't find a way out.
Either way, he is not concerned at all with finishing the books...he is out here living his best life with the time he has left

Did I miss it, but did anyone ask whether the Dothraki got wiped out? I know it sure looks like it, but who can tell with all the clouds and darkness. Hard to believe that they just are gone from the face of the earth, leaving half the Unsullied as Dany's only fighting force left along with maybe one dragon.
