Episodes One and Two

I finally got around and watched the first two episodes the other night while in my truck.

I will say that I have no knowledge of Halo, the video game and whatever there is they have out there. So I basically went into this series like going into Virgin Pussy for the first time.

For somebody not knowing anything, the way it started out with primary character introduction/development was done well. It looks like they did it for gamers and folks like me. It was quick and informative.

The primary story from what I have seen so far was clear, direct and simple. Nothing complicated.

VFX/SFX was ok. Nothing impressive and I didn’t see anything that would make you go “WOW”. It came off like what we saw in the SYFY Channel Battlestar Galactica in how it was presented.

My only pet peeve was when they showed the alien Covenant, they started out talking their native language with subtitles in episode one. They showed them again in episode 2 and they still talking their native language with subtitles. Shit was annoying cuz I was sitting there eating dinner and I had to stop stuffing my face to look at the damn screen. I understood doing it in the premiere episode, but after that mofos need to be speaking the English already.

HaHa!!

So far it is playing out ok. It’s different from whatever else is out there, so that makes it stand out for now.

Hoping to get the season completed before the end of the month.

excellent observations as always bro.

It must be age or my eyes

but I rarely understand the special effects complaints people make

Maybe because I don't have a super plasma dpi 10000 7s inch mega pixel

I thought the effects looked very well done.

For you cats getting upset about the series not following the video game.

You gotta ask the question….How Many American’s Have Played The Game?

And is the video game storyline interesting enough to hold the attention of folks (like me) who are clueless of the game?

It maybe hard to comprehend, but there is a very large segment of the American population that has not touched a video game console since the Atari 5200.

Paramount has to make this series appeal to a general audience, not a handful of hardcore gamers.

I started watching episode 5 last night. My cable box has the Paramount app where I watch it. I scrolled thru the series information and Stephen Spielberg is listed as one of the Executive Producers.

If you are familiar with Spielberg, he doesn’t get behind anything that can come off as potential garbage.

Spielberg made part of his career thru Paramount and made that studio billions.

Being he is behind this series, that definitely means it’s gonna get better for sure. And possibly tie in more into the game in the future.

Episodes Three and Four

Watched these two Friday night in my truck.

Episodes went mainly into character development for John/Masterchief. And that was basically it.

Nothing for action.

I will assume the action will kick in during the last 2 or 3 episodes.

So far it’s going ok.

Episode Five, Six and Seven

Started these last night and finished them this morning.

They spent more time with Masterchief origin along with his character development in episodes 5 and 6. That should pretty much finish that going forward into the series.

Saw some good action with Masterchief in episode 5. And saw Kai-125 reaction to removing her emotions pellet like John. Now she running around like John with full emotions. The other two Spartans reaction to her were comedic.

They made it finally clear the relationship status between Dr. Halsey, Captain Keyes and Miranda. It was somewhat obvious since episode one but now we know.

Spent pretty much a whole episode with Kwan Ha. I originally suspected her character is there to give some insight on what is going on in this time period away from what is going on around John/Masterchief. It’s looking more like her story will tie in with the bigger story later.

I was pretty amused watching Vinsher Grath cruising around in a modified 2010 era Chevy Tahoe. All the money spent on this show and they got that cat rolling around in that. HaHa!!!

Got some other shows to catch up on right now while I am home today. Might try to get the last two completed before I go to bed tonight.

Halo' Season 2 Begins Filming

Joseph Morgan and Cristina Rodlo join the cast.

BY RYAN O'ROURKE
PUBLISHED SEP 14, 2022

Master Chief has returned to set. Paramount+ announced that their hit action-drama Halo, based on the popular video game franchise of the same name, has begun filming after a successful first outing on the streamer. Production is currently taking place in Iceland with additional filming scheduled to take place later this year in Budapest, Hungary.

Just like the series its based on, Halo follows the 26th-century conflict between humanity and the alien faction known as the Covenant. It centers on the franchise's mascot Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) leading a group of super soldiers created by Dr. Halsey (Natascha McElhone) known as the Spartans to combat the alien threat. Season 1 expanded beyond the world of the game, introducing a number of new enhanced soldiers to fight alongside John-117 for the sake of the UNSC. On a whole, the series weaves together more intricate storylines within the Halo universe with large-scale action in the battle for humanity.

Season 2 will see Schreiber and McElhone return to the fight, but they'll have extra duties this time around. Aside from starring, both will also serve as executive producers. Joining them are fellow returning castmates Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, and Danny Sapani. Two new cast members are set to appear in Season 2 with Joseph Morgan and Cristina Rodlo boarding as series regulars. Fiona O’Shaughnessy and Tylan Bailey also enter the new run of episodes with promotions as both are now set as regulars as well.

Halo hails from showrunner David Wiener who will reprise his duties for the upcoming season. He'll also executive produce alongside Schreiber, McElhone with Steven Spielberg, Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television, Kiki Wolfkill, Frank O’Connor, and Bonnie Ross for 343 Industries, and Otto Bathurst and Toby Leslie for One Big Picture. The series is produced by Showtime .

Paramount+ bet big on the video game adaptation before it even released, assuring a second season right out of the gate. Given the long-standing reputation of Halo as an elder statesman and blockbuster franchise, that seemed like a safe bet at the time, though reviews haven't been particularly kind to the series thus far. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 69% score among critics, but only 52% with audiences. The hope is that Wiener can right the ship with Season 2 and deliver more on the action that's made the series a mainstay.

Season 1 of Halo is currently streaming on Paramount+.

Gee I wonder why they did this and not a series like Yellowstone

Yellowstone is on peacock exclusively per contract.

The producers didn’t think Yellowstone was gonna do anything, that’s why it debuted in the summer and Paramount just threw it over to peacock.

It became a sleeper hit and blew the fuck up unexpectedly after a couple of seasons and caught Paramount off guard.

Until the peacock contract expires, it will remain there and not on Paramount+.

I was just hinting that Halo was crap and Yellowstone is top teir tv so they would not let people watch it for free.

they are pretty bad.

i saw the first two eps some months ago. i have yet to finish it. there is much better tv to watch.

given that the series got a second season coming soon, i am going to give this a second shot.

i am tempted to smear my 75" 4K dolby vision/hdr with vaseline to get by the poor effects.

i was reading the last page of the thread again and almost liked my own comment. :roflmao2:

Gamers can be tight-asses about stuff like that at times and then they turn around and complain when the bulk of society treats them like socially inept nerds.

The Sonic movies differ greatly from the games, comics and cartoons because of the reasons you state and because most times these video games don't have storylines that translate to other media.

The only video game that I can think of that had it's storyline transferred nearly verbatim from gaming to TV was Shenmue.

I swear I must be half blind or just easily impressed or just old cause half the time I don't notice how HORRIBLE yall keep telling me the effects are.

I honestly just can't tell most of the time.

I know it's fake so it has to be extremely well done or extremely bad for me personally to notice.

If it ain't syfy channel?

And the story and acting is dope?

I'm good.
