CEOs probably dragging their feet..

They said the CEOs in attendance were from Disney, WB, NBC/Universal, and Netflix. So the big dogs weren't even there to fuck shit up and still no deal. :smh: Hungry writers vs stubborn CEOs. Who folds first?
Apple and Amazon just got the popcorn out and watching like  It's like watching ants to them. They just pop in and out like Q from Star Trek.

This probably what either Iger or Zaslav said if they were there

Writer of the piece is off here.

First, Iger is the wrong guy out the CEOs she referenced to use to make her point. Disney has park money to float them and it is proven by their filings that they are already losing money on streaming, shows(disney + productions), and movies before the damn strike. Filings show they were over $200 million(will only go higher) in the hole for that 'snow white' bs they about to lose money on, so quarter 1 on 2024 is already fucked and the Marvels ensures his EOY report is fucked, so what urgency does he have? His place is only on ideology.

Second, no not EVERYONE thinks the guild's demands are based in reality. The fucking reality is that the industry is changing and studios are more aware of this than the fucking writer's guild. And that matters in negotiating. That's how business works.

Last, don't ever bring up teamsters(UPS) and the working man(people, but most the physical jobs are men) to compare to these people. Hell, I won't compare any cushy shit I do to what blue-collar people do, especially UPS. FOH.

Is Disney on the list of "You lose less if you pay us' folks they keep talking about? When fans like myself keep complaining about shit writing in projects, we were told we were toxic, crazy, and didn't understand shit. Well, some more receipts that were easy to call. Along with bad streaming numbers for more shows than we can count, what the fuck are writers going on about?

How can SOME studios look at this shit and justify giving the chefs more money to produce Ls while also saying a certain number of these chefs MUST be in the room.

Just remember when folks talking about getting paid the industry is down and in-house streaming isn't viable for most studios. Remember, 2 sides to the story. :smh:

In defense of the writers, Disney big wigs and toy moguls have constantly fucked with the scripts and directions to fit corporate agendas.

It's like a baseball manager telling Barry Bonds to bunt cause of analytics. The mouse isn't playing to the strength of their roster, they are letting out of touch executives push the agendas they want.

This is the most accurate thing ever. And it starts in the pitch room. South Park talked about it. How Disney and other production companies are doing this, and partly to appease the Chinese Government/Market.

You are right with that. SOME of us talk about Kennedy and all the damage she has done to lucasfilm. Disney showrunners have publicly said they have agendas and have been caught on zoom calls saying the shit. The crazy bitch at Amazon wanted to fuck up Conan. She is another one making it hard for writers.

That said, we do have example after example of writers coming out and saying that they are writing a certain way and if fans don't like it they can fuck off. We also have writers saying tension in writing rooms is high if they don't play along with agendas. We also have examples of writers who HATE the characters and source material they are working on.

So yeah, the problem Hollyweird has is coming from both up top AND the writer's room. Writers that want to put out quality content are getting it from both their peers and execs.

But even with that, ain't you tired of all the tropes and lazy writing period? The 'don't do it, you'll be just like them'. The 'put the gun down'. The same lazy writing over and over and over and over.
