great actors almost never win awards playing roles in poorly conceived stories

I think I’m missing something..

A good chunk of these movies were actually good...

Road Trip, Old School, and Hangover 1 were classics...

War dogs was fucking underrated...


These teaser really has me excited... I know that Joaquin is going to bring heat...

And I like the premise of the Failed Comedian slowly turning to Crime and Choas.. it also looks like This Joker inspires people to join him by painting their face.

I’m all in..

My thoughts almost verbatim. The look and the atmosphere looks incredible, but the actual story looks like a quiet drama/character study. Take the well-known Joker element out of it and it doesn't look like much of anything is going on.

Hopefully, they took the "teaser" thing to heart and are keeping the goods under wraps.

all of those were good comedies - some were EXCELLENT comedies

NONE OF THEM are noir, thriller, action nor even crime


this trailer looks like Nolan - but on substance its missing every beat

Yeah I feel that. I don' t need them to lay out the whole movie in a trailer. It's atmospheric enough just seeing Joaquin Phoenix inhabit that physical space and that creepy smile, but it doesn't give me a great sense of the story; which is cool. I'll take the ride blind. I'm going see it either way. Trailer just looks like the movie could go either way at this point.

Ehhhh, don't really care about the buildup. I'd rather see him jump into the chaos. How would not having batman transform this movie into a money maker, because in the end that's what it is to the studios. The casual watcher knows the Joker through Batman

And his anarchy
No need for batman until the end where he gets Batman's attention possibly

I mean you can't have an origin story without an origin
And I'd much rather have it develop than have a cheesy therapy session where's he's being interviewed and all of this is retrospective

Falling Down or Boogie Nights.... at worst a little girl will be holding his hand

This character deserves a story / plot as twisted as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and as violent and demented as Taxi Driver

Shit, I don't need to Batman, either. And if he is in there, I certainly hope they won't give it away in a trailer.

It looks like a period piece anyway -- maybe mid-70's, so I seriously doubt a full grown Dark Knight will be featured.

I'm cool with a descent into madness angle. It would be a ballsy movie for Warner Bros. to go away from the big budget spectacle and tell a complex, adult story.
