They been trying to remake this for a long time now..rumor is that Villenueve wants to after he directs Rendezvous With Rama

Unfortunately there is of Kirk

..and why tf was Harvey Keitel's voice dubbed

That movie done right would resonate in 2025. Might even be a better series on Amazon if they want to tell the backstory

I watched this one this evening. I can’t remember the last time I watched or what happened, so I rewatched it on tubi.

This is one of those sleeper, Sci-Fi cult classics that bombed in the theater but became popular later on during the VHS rental era.

The premise has been done previously and after in various incarnations over the decades.

VFX/SFX is on the level of a network TV Sci-Fi series for the era. It looks cheap.

Suspense/Thrills are predictable, but interesting enough to keep you watching.

For the Thirsty, Farrah Fawcett co-stars. She did away with the 70s hair and went straight and she looks 100% better. No nudity of her.

Overall, it has good casting with Kirk Douglas, Fawcett and Harvey Keitel. tubi has a good clean copy.

Synopsis

A couple of space-station dwellers are menaced by a scientist and his amorous android. The robot is dismantled but soon finds a way of putting his parts back in the right order and continuing his quest.

Vhs classic.

They even showed on TV a bunch.

She looked AMAZING in this.

So many movies tried to jack this...

But that near rape scene with the robot just hit different in this.

I watched this last night on the free streaming app PLEX.

This is basically an old school trucker film made before Hollywood started glamorizing trucking later on like with “Convoy” and “Smokey and the Bandit”.

Out of all the trucker films I have seen, this one probably has to be the best in depicting trucker life.

The 3 drivers in the film have a lot of dialogue that people with experience in trucking will understand. The drivers also do things related to trucking. It’s obvious there was a driver on set as a technician advisor because the attention to detail is amazing with what these guys do and say.

The 3 drivers do not actually drive, they have the cameras positioned right in front of the windshield. The reason we don’t see them drive is because they are operating 1960 era Mack CruiseLiners withb dual stick manual transmission. No way they could have gotten these actors trained to drive them for filming.

The main story is pretty boring. The highlight of the film is when the drivers are on screen.

Boxer Sonny Liston co-stars as one of the truck drivers. The film takes place between Tucson, AZ and El Paso, TX. Lots of familiar sites are seen along Interstate 10. The TTT Truck Stop in Tucson is shown. It is a legendary, independently owned truck stop West of the Mississippi River that still operates today. I have been to it a number of times.

Overall, it’s an interesting film giving an old school depiction of truck driving lifestyle.

PLEX has a grainy, unremastered copy. YouTube has it the same as you see below.

Synopsis

An astronaut working for a private corporation touches down on a former Nazi's southern Mexico ranch.

I watched this one this afternoon after seeing it was uploaded on PlutoTV for free. It’s a Paramount film so I don’t know why it’s not on Paramount+.

I last saw this flick in the early 1990s on HBO, but forgot what happened. Also a reboot is planned.

The plot/premise is simple. There isn’t anything for actual VFX/SFX, the opening weightless in space scene was done pretty well with the technique they used. The set designs are impressive for a low budget film. The whole film is shot on a soundstage.

Jane Fonda is the highlight of the film. It’s incredible on how fine she looks. The opening credits roll will suck you into watching it. We get some nudity there, not alot due to MPAA censorship standards at the time, but enough to keep you looking.

The first 15 minutes is interesting, after that the story just seems drawn out and slows down the film.

It’s pretty clear this film was made as a Hippy film to watch under the influence of LSD. There are lots of psychedelic visuals thru-out.

For the Gay Agenda Trackers, there are slight LGBT references to how some characters interact with each other.

For the Thirsty, Jane Fonda, she was at her prime. The first 15 minutes you will enjoy watching her bounce and roll inside of her spaceship and the positions she gets herself in.

Actress Sydney Sweeney is planning a reboot, hopefully she goes all out with the sexual material being censorship standards are relaxed today.

Synopsis

The president of Earth sends space adventurer Barbarella on a mission to retrieve a scientist. She crash lands on a planet and explores its strange customs after a man rescues her from captivity.

Argylle

Junk Pile

PRAISE: This story within a story about
author Elly Conway who writes best-selling espionage novels about a secret agent named Argylle but ends up in spy plot herself has a few good moments. I love Bryce Dallas Howard and she plays it cute as a writer suddenly thrown into a world of espionage. Sam Rockwell and Howard have some good moments together. I did laugh several times especially during one action sequence that was visually fun. I actually wanted to see more of Alfie the Cat in action. I mean if you are going to go where this movie goes why not include Alfie some more !! There was some charm around the edges of this movie.

PROBLEMS: The predictable moments outweigh any surprises. The pacing is pretty bad as characters sit around saying : Well this happened because of this ,and I did this because this happened. So many easy paychecks were written for this cast as characters vanish for long periods of time.
Once one action sequence started I kept hoping how it was done visually wouldn't happen throughout the whole movie but unfortunately it does. The climax in this film is unbelievable and not in a good way. The CGI during it is beyond awful. What happens during it I didn't find funny or charming. None of it worked for me,it was just cheesier than a six cheese grilled cheese sandwich. Some wooden acting throughout then some. The only way I think this movie will work for people if they go in looking for a live action cartoon.

Scale of 1 to 10 a 3½

This shit was too long. Near the end I was like wrap this shit up already. It needed to about 20-30 minutes shorter.

It was a Netflix streaming movie they put in the theaters. I'm shocked Apple did this. This was Netflix quality. The CGI was bad at times. The mansion  The car scene was ummmmm. They need to investigate the studios for stealing money, because this wasn't expensive movie, besides the guest actors who probably spent a week at most filming their scenes.

One of the fight scenes was so fuckin corny. That shit was embarrassing.

They also needed a better lead actor, he wasn't believable, and sorry Bryce Dallas Howard wasn't built for that role. He wasn't picking her up.

I guess it was sort entertaining to a degree, but I wished I was home.

I watched this one tonight on tubi.

I had last saw this back in the late 70s watching it with my mother who was a big fan of Bette Davis. This film for whatever reason popped up in my recommendations recently so I decided to check it out again cuz I forgot what happened.

The film takes place prior to the Civil War in Louisiana in 1852. It gives a lot of history on events that took place prior in US history going back to the early 1800s. It’s amazing watching this film and seeing how history is repeating itself.

Being it takes place before the Civil War, it gives some insight on why the War took place. There is dialogue on the expansion of the US west of the Mississippi to the Pacific Northwest due to the Louisiana purchase and how mofos want to finally profit from it in the Northern/Southern states.

For the Militants, Slavery takes place, but nothing is shown. Slaves are shown and they are depicted as being happy, living good, eating good along with acting out stereotypes which was common during the era this film was made.

For the InCells, Bette Davis stars in the film. Bette was known on taking roles depicting a strong woman treating men like dirt. She says and does things in this film you will find disturbing and offensive.

This is one of Bette Davis iconic roles, she won a Best Actress Oscar for it. Stymie from “Our Gang/Little Rascals” has a small role.

Not spoiling it, but the ending fell flat with what they did with Bette Davis character.

tubi has a clean, remastered copy.

Synopsis

In one of her most renowned roles, Bette Davis portrays Julie Marsden, a spoiled Southern belle who risks losing her suitor with her impetuous behavior. Engaged to successful banker Preston Dillard (Henry Fonda), Julie pushes him away with her arrogant and contrary ways, leading to a scandalous scene at a major social event and his subsequent departure. When Preston eventually returns and Julie attempts to win him back, she discovers that it may be too late.

Watched Wonka earlier this week and it was better than expected. Been glancing at some of the Youtube comments and feedback and plenty of people noted it was a pleasant surprise. Amusing, heartfelt, cheesy, etc. Enjoyed the music numbers as well. The song below is a personal fave when it starts to pick up at the 00:35 mark and is more lively.

I can honestly say the movie's got appeal for all ages. I recommended it to a handful of people in their 20s to 40s. Mentioned it to my pops and he asked me if his GF's granddaughter might like it too (she's 4). She enjoys music, karaoke & is taking dance lessons and her parents might get a kick out of it as well (they're in their late-30s). Her little brother is 2yo and would probably like some of the visuals.

My fave characters in the movie were Noodle and Mr. Slugworth.

Just watched Fury for umpteenth time

got to be top 10 war movie
well paced
good action
love this movie

Yeah, it’s a sleeper it.

I served on the M1A1 Abrams, they did a good job depicting tankers in a war zone.

I watched it a few years ago on TV with my sons.

I pointed out to them the part where they go into those 2 chicks apartment and eat their food and have their way thru out their apartment, is actually a war crime. Soldiers are forbidden to interact with civilians in a war zone and take shit from them, it’s why it was shown in the film.

Lots of folks who watch the scene, it goes over their heads.

The flick just got uploaded on Netflix.

The Equalizer
2014

6.5/10

Netflix recently uploaded the Equalizer 3. I had seen this flick around 2014/2015 on HBO and completely forgot what it and the 2nd film are about.

So I watched this earlier this afternoon while at home today.

Nothing spectacular about the plot being Steven Seagal did a bunch of similar films back in the 80s/90s.

Action sequences with Denzel were somewhat believable. Nothing fascinating to get excited about. Decent level of suspense.

I had recorded from cable TV and watched on my DVR. Will try to get the 2nd film watched at some point.

Synopsis

Robert McCall (Denzel Washington), a man of mysterious origin who believes he has put the past behind him, dedicates himself to creating a quiet new life. However, when he meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a teenager who has been manhandled by violent Russian mobsters, he simply cannot walk away. With his set of formidable skills, McCall comes out of self-imposed retirement and emerges as an avenging angel, ready to take down anyone who brutalizes the helpless.

Introducing Dorothy Dandridge
1999

7/10

It’s Black History Month so I need to watch Black folks in film. HaHa!!!

I watched this last night with my wife who hadn’t seen it.

It’s a decent bio-pic on Dorothy Dandridge life starting with her early days when she was an unknown and ending with her unexpected death.

The story flows well and doesn’t drift off like a lot of bio-pics do with unimportant parts. It will keep your interest from start to the last scene.

Halle Berry was still in her prime (And still is today) in this film. When she gets dolled up for “Carmen Jones”, you will be glued to the screen.

They did a good job of getting actors to look like the real people. Every actor does a decent job in their roles.

For the Militants, Dorothy has a couple of IR relationships with WM.

For the InCells, Dorothy gets treated like dirt by her Aunt and some of the Men in her life. You should enjoy how she is treated.

I watched the movie on MAX.

Synopsis

Based on a true story, this film chronicles the life of Dorothy Dandridge, the first black woman to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress. Dandridge (Halle Berry) begins her career working as a nightclub singer before eventually breaking into Hollywood, where she meets her steadfast manager (Brent Spiner) and struggles against racism. Her rise to stardom introduces her to Otto Preminger (Klaus Maria Brandauer), a film director with whom she develops a complicated relationship.
