Freeway II: Confessions of a Trickbaby

4.5/10

I watched this last night on tubi.

I had never knew this film existed until it showed up in my tubi recommendations earlier. I rewatched/reviewed the first film earlier in the thread.

The film is like the first dealing with a dysfunctional, young White girl and the dysfunctional people around her. The story is completely different from the first.

Like the first, there is dark comedy and some violence. There is one actor from the first film in this one but it’s unclear if he is playing the same character.

Legendary director John Landis and actor/comedian David Alan Grier each have humorous supporting roles.

For the Pervs, there is scenes dealing with young women under the age of 21 with some nudity.

For the Gay Agenda trackers, actor Vincent Gallo plays a Trans, BDSM, Pedo pervert, he fits the profile of what a Trans person you think are. There is also a Lesbian sex scene with Natasha and her Latino co-Star.

For the Militants, the lead character is attracted to BM and David Allen Grier character love’s WW.

For the Thirsty, Natasha Lyonne is in her prime in this film. Her look changes 3 times with her looking like a Southwest Latina, A Redhead and a Blonde. This is one of her rare roles she actually looks attractive.

There also is some BDSM, Pedo stuff starting around the last 20 minutes of the film. Nothing graphic is shown.

Synopsis

After breaking out of jail, two teens travel to Tijuana and stay with one's former childhood protector, a man disguised as a nun.

Got a funny movie review for you. This one's from my dad on the phone. He watched it (or parts of it) with his GF over the weekend, lol.

To paraphrase him ...

"Yeah ... so we watched the movie Wander. I like both the lead actors. But after 10 - 20 mins it sort of felt like a cheap version of The X-Files. And you know me ... it's not really my thing. Science fiction and all that."

Me - "So did you just turn it off and watch something else?"

Dad - "Well shit ... we were already sort of invested. So I said let's just fast-forward to the last 20 minutes and see how it plays out. So we watched the first 20 mins. And the last 20 mins. Take it for what it's worth ..."

Some movies are just not worth dedicating 2 hours hell maybe even one hour to

I watched this last night on MAX.

This is the 5th film in the series. It starts out in the beginning like a Mob film before the credit roll which catches you off guard. After the opening credits roll it gets into the comedy. Like the last film, the film plays out like a live-action cartoon along with Inspector Closeau doing multiple costume/character changes.

For the Thirsty, Dyan Cannon co-stars, the Ol’ Heads should remember her from the 70s. She is at her prime. She also has a slight resemblance I noticed to Eartha Kitt from her 1950/early 60s day.

One of the actors from the Benny Hill show has a small cameo.

This isn’t the best film from what has been released, but it’s entertaining.

Synopsis

When French drug kingpin Philippe Douvier (Robert Webber) learns that he's losing the respect of New York mob bosses, he decides to murder Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers) to regain his reputation. After a case of mistaken identity, Clouseau is declared dead, much to the delight of his former boss, Charles Dreyfus (Herbert Lom). When Clouseau reemerges, he teams up with Douvier's ex-lover, Simone LeGree (Dyan Cannon), to break up the drug trafficking operation.

Watched Wonka earlier this week and it was better than expected. Been glancing at some of the Youtube comments and feedback and plenty of people noted it was a pleasant surprise. Amusing, heartfelt, cheesy, etc. Enjoyed the music numbers as well. The song below is a personal fave when it starts to pick up at the 00:35 mark and is more lively.

I can honestly say the movie's got appeal for all ages. I recommended it to a handful of people in their 20s to 40s. Mentioned it to my pops and he asked me if his GF's granddaughter might like it too (she's 4). She enjoys music, karaoke & is taking dance lessons and her parents might get a kick out of it as well (they're in their late-30s). Her little brother is 2yo and would probably like some of the visuals.

My fave characters in the movie were Noodle and Mr. Slugworth.

It was uneven. It was part biography wrapped around a movie with a message. I fell asleep for a bit, because it just bogs down at times. I wasn't the only one, because some dude was loud as hell snoring. It was over two hours and some of the story was too drawn out. My main issue was that the lead characters story was distracting and took away from the pain of the story. Emotionally I didn't know how to feel. She faced so much tragedy in her own life and it kept going back and adding to that. I didn't really care about her white husband, her mom.... The India part was weird, because you can tell Ava DeVurney wanted to show India the good and bad, but that one part, I wish the rest of the two hours was like that 15 minutes.

The acting was good, besides the mom. Aunjane Ellis Taylor killed it.

It puts racism into a bigger caste global system. Like how the Nazis studied slavey and Jim Crow in this country or how Dr King went to India. I had a bit of a problem with that, because I felt it gives white people an out. I felt it was the white husband part of her showing.

Code 8
2019

6.5/10

I watched this back in 2020 during the shutdown.

This flick has a good premise, but it just fizzled on story when it played out.

The subject of people with powers and abilities was not used effectivly.

The movie is slow paced. It would have worked if this was a series, but for a 90 minute movie, slow pace ain't going to work.

Watch if you a hardcore Sci-Fi head or fan of the guy from "Arrow".

Synopsis

A desperate young man with special powers commits a series of petty crimes and is hunted by a militarised police force.

I’m definitely surprised Netflix made a sequel to this.

Code 8: Part II
Official Trailer
Debuts February 28, 2024

It’s been a few years since we heard from Connor Reed (Robbie Amell) and Garrett Kelton (Stephen Amell), the fugitives who turned Lincoln City upside down in the first Code 8 film. In a fictional world where 4% of the population is born with special abilities, these two are particularly dangerous: They’re “PWPs” (people with powers) who use their skills to commit crimes. Released in 2019, Code 8 was a crowdfunded sensation that raised more than $2 million on Indiegogo; it introduced audiences to the world of PWPs — and the robotic police force tracking them down. The sequel is an exciting Canadian original film, picking up the story of Connor and Garrett soon after it left off.

In this sequel to Code 8, Connor is out of prison and working as a janitor at a community center, having cut ties with his former criminal associate, Garrett. Connor’s attempt at staying out of trouble is destroyed when he’s forced to help 14-year-old Pav (Sirena Gulamgaus) escape from a pack of corrupt officers led by Sergeant King (Alex Mallari Jr.). King uses the newly launched robotic K9s to track Pav down, while Connor finds himself once again reaching out to Garrett and his crew for help, but can he trust the man who landed him in prison in the first place?

I watched this one tonight on tubi.

I had last saw this back in the late 70s watching it with my mother who was a big fan of Bette Davis. This film for whatever reason popped up in my recommendations recently so I decided to check it out again cuz I forgot what happened.

The film takes place prior to the Civil War in Louisiana in 1852. It gives a lot of history on events that took place prior in US history going back to the early 1800s. It’s amazing watching this film and seeing how history is repeating itself.

Being it takes place before the Civil War, it gives some insight on why the War took place. There is dialogue on the expansion of the US west of the Mississippi to the Pacific Northwest due to the Louisiana purchase and how mofos want to finally profit from it in the Northern/Southern states.

For the Militants, Slavery takes place, but nothing is shown. Slaves are shown and they are depicted as being happy, living good, eating good along with acting out stereotypes which was common during the era this film was made.

For the InCells, Bette Davis stars in the film. Bette was known on taking roles depicting a strong woman treating men like dirt. She says and does things in this film you will find disturbing and offensive.

This is one of Bette Davis iconic roles, she won a Best Actress Oscar for it. Stymie from “Our Gang/Little Rascals” has a small role.

Not spoiling it, but the ending fell flat with what they did with Bette Davis character.

tubi has a clean, remastered copy.

Synopsis

In one of her most renowned roles, Bette Davis portrays Julie Marsden, a spoiled Southern belle who risks losing her suitor with her impetuous behavior. Engaged to successful banker Preston Dillard (Henry Fonda), Julie pushes him away with her arrogant and contrary ways, leading to a scandalous scene at a major social event and his subsequent departure. When Preston eventually returns and Julie attempts to win him back, she discovers that it may be too late.

If you like fucked up flicks like Saltburn or The Belko Experiment consider the folowing:

Antonio Banderas awesome performance in Skin I Live In an Italian movie with subtitles and wild plot twists. It’s gonna fuck your head up

We Are Flesh

The tagline is two kids, at the end of the world, enter a house looking for food and find an old man that gives them a choice…. Never seen a movie crazier than this. Graphic penetration and sex scenes but be warned there are weirdo close ups of dong sometimes just blink or something. A girl rapes a corpse. The weirdest MMF scene ever. Seriously somebody watch this and tell me what the fuck it’s about

I watched this cult classic Sci-Fi flick last night.

The story still holds up today and is more relevant with how the current social-political climate is today thru-out the world with over population, climate change and environmental issues.

Not much for VFX/SFX. Some of the set designs look good for the era it was made.

For the Thirsty, Farrah Fawcett has a small cameo. She has one scene giving a good view of her legs, I was surprised too see how full her legs were, I always assumed she was like a toothpick body wise.

For the Gay Agenda trackers, references to Gay/Lesbian is made.

This film definitely needs to be remade for current times. There was a TV series that came after this movie debut that lasted one season, it’s only on AppleTV streaming.

tubi has a clean copy.

Synopsis

In the year 2274, young residents enjoy an idyllic, hedonistic lifestyle within the protective confines of a domed city. The general belief is that when each person turns 30, they are reincarnated for another blissful life cycle. Those who know the much darker truth become "runners" and flee to a hidden sanctuary. When law enforcement officer Logan (Michael York) goes undercover to locate the refuge, he winds up instead trying to initiate a revolution with runner Jessica (Jenny Agutter).

I watched this one this evening. I can’t remember the last time I watched or what happened, so I rewatched it on tubi.

This is one of those sleeper, Sci-Fi cult classics that bombed in the theater but became popular later on during the VHS rental era.

The premise has been done previously and after in various incarnations over the decades.

VFX/SFX is on the level of a network TV Sci-Fi series for the era. It looks cheap.

Suspense/Thrills are predictable, but interesting enough to keep you watching.

For the Thirsty, Farrah Fawcett co-stars. She did away with the 70s hair and went straight and she looks 100% better. No nudity of her.

Overall, it has good casting with Kirk Douglas, Fawcett and Harvey Keitel. tubi has a good clean copy.

Synopsis

A couple of space-station dwellers are menaced by a scientist and his amorous android. The robot is dismantled but soon finds a way of putting his parts back in the right order and continuing his quest.
