but quick question, what makes Ellie so special outside of being immune
the last episode during the flashback the Fed officer stated that she was wasting her talents and could be a leader. Last night's episode the creepy preacher took an immediate liking to her and wanted to recruit her to lead. In both cases was this just fucked up game? For the fed to get her in line and promising a carrot instead of stick? Did the creepy preacher really see something in Ellie worth saving or was he just getting his R Kelly on?

didnt play the game and viewing the show Ellie is special. She is a survior, smart and capable but not sure if these characterstics are that notable or is it just typical tv trope that she is special because the show/game need her to be.

This is all true.

It's sad that we can't get shows that fully encapsulate the depth that is black people and the shows that are most popular among black people that have black people in them are largely negative.

The only popular show starring black people about black people that was both popular and successful that I can think about is Insecure, but those BMF, Power spin-off shows, and anything depicting black people in a negative light are wildly popular.

One of you said we only eat the food we're given. Many of us grew up eating shit food like Hot Pockets and ramen noodles. We couldn't afford filet mignon, and there are some of us who would never eat a Hot Pocket ever again

There are others of us who don't know any better and are either still living in or never grew out of the hot pocket stage.

Insecure was one of the few shows for the filet mignon black people. The intelligent, introspective folks who crave black people in all our various lights. We have so many stories that we could tell about us and they don't always involve being broke, or drugs or attempting to be a drug dealer

BMF is for the hot pocket black people and Hollywood caters more to those people than the rest of us. And unfortunately there are far more of the Hot Pocket black people than there are the one who progressed to filet mignon black people

We get flooded with images of us fucked up until we start thinking that we want it. Plenty of shows showing us positively have done well. Cosby Show and A Different World had good ratings for decades. Insecure had good ratings. These shows aren't obscure categories and could easily be replicated. The gay shit gets crammed into our shows, even if it doesn't fit. A lot of characters in "The Wire" were based on real people. Omar was based on a real person that was well-known. He wasn't gay. Why was he gay on the show? We are only a small percentage of the US p[opulation and an even smaller percentage of actors. Why is the most well-known flamboyant gay person a black man(RuPaul)? Plenty of celebrities with gay and trans kids, why is the most well-known a "Black boy"(Zaire/Zaya Wade)? This isn't a coincidence. It is so easy for them to portray our young boys as feminine and/or violent, and make it seem like we don't want to be portrayed positively. Unfortunately, it's working. Many brothers actually believe that we wouldn't support positive portrayals of ourselves.

Being immune takes the cake of her being special. And as you mentioned she being a smart and capable survivor adds to it. Joel also improved her skill set, remember through out the show it was mentioned his reputation as a ruthless killer

You're spot on. The Cosby Show in a different world were decades ago, and the gay shit is thrown in our faces and shoehorned into places where it shouldn't be

Omar didn't have to be gay because he wasn't gay in real life but they whoever they is decided to add it to the show.

Dwyane Wade's kid and RuPaul? Right on that too. Painting black men as feminine or violent takes them out of the household.

Gay men don't have babies and the violent men get jail.

For anyone supporting trans kids I say to them:

What did you want to be when you graduated from high school? What was your major when you first started college? Did you keep that major or did you switch? How many times did you switch?

Between 50-75% of people switch their college major before graduating, so to expect an 8 year old or a 12 year old or a 15 year old to make a permanent change like gender configuration at their age is nuts.

I read somewhere that she has some sexual identity issues and ties her titties down. She might play male roles in the future or gay ones.
Tying her titties down? These mughfuckas nowadays.

There are women born into the IBTC willing to pay for what you got naturally and this bitch is like the White chick on It's A Wonderful Chest from Chappelle Show

I think some of y’all underestimate the importance of character development.

The pay off of David being a sick fuck being brutally murdered can’t be executed as well if there isn’t extensive dialogue between characters.

This isn’t an all out action show. Everything has to be built up so if it has the potential to be lost, it actually means something.

Season finale next week and based on this episode, it should nail the landing i believe
Niggas want mindless action and explosions.
Folks who want action all the time and little to no character development remind me of why Michael Bay movies are so popular

I really had a hard time believing that Joel had the sudden energy to get up of that cot and do his deadly shit.
Especially as incapacitated as he was.

And not one of those "Resort" Townspeople even noticed that huge fire coming out of the dinner?

Other than those gripes, another great episode.

You're right on that. Joel got up like Marty McFly when his mother and father kissed at the enchantment under the sea Dance. But other than the things you mentioned, great episode

I didn’t know about Cher’s son. If there is a way to get the data, I’m pretty sure that there are more articles and pictures of Zaire/Zaya than Cher’s son. Matter of fact, without Googling, what is Cher’s son’s name? See what I mean?

Well Cher's kid....Chaz....is like 50 years old though. I mean, I remember when I was a little kid and they brought the then her out on stage. So Chaz is closer to the bruce/kaitlyn demographic than genZ, millenials, and that has something to do with it.
Although, he was on Curb your enthusiasm and the trans shit was part of the comedy. It literally caused Larry's business to burn down.
