The power of intermittent fasting

The body needs to adjust, I moved up 5lbs from 227 to 232 so my body can size up. Restart again to hit 210 mark.

I'm in, I wanna drop my guy and tone up. I work overnight and I get painful gas cux my gallbladder is removed.

I work out but I get mad hungry easily.

I need to figure a way to do this overnight work while fasting.

And eating before I workout.

I'm thinking eating before the gym at about 5pm. And eating at work once or bringing something with me to eat when the gas pain becomes a problem.

What apps you guys use? I just downloaded myfitnesspal

I'm start with the 16:8.

I'm try to eat twice in those 8 hours.

Let's see where this goes.

And I'm get one of those water bottles for the whip lol.

I've been on an intermittent fast for a few months now. I've also added MCT (medium chain triglyceride) oil from coconuts to my coffee a few times a day.

What Makes MCT Oils So Special?
MCTs get their name because of the length of their chemical structure. All types of fatty acids are made up of strings of connected carbon and hydrogen. Fats are categorized by how many carbons they have: short-chain fats (like butyric acid) have fewer than six carbons, medium-chain fats have between six to 12 carbons and long-chain fats (like omega-3s) have between 13–21.

What makes MCTs a top source of essential healthy fats? Medium-chain fats are digested easily and sent directly to your liver, where they have a thermogenic effect and the ability to positively alter your metabolism. This is one reason why many people claim that MCTs, including coconut oil, are burned by the body for energy, or “fuel,” instead of being stored as fat.

Compared to longer-chain fats, MCTs are absorbed more easily since there’s less work for the body to do breaking apart carbon bonds. MCTs are smaller, so they can permeate our cell membranes more easily and don’t require that we use special enzymes in order for our bodies to utilize them.

MCTs and saturated fats are good for you in other ways, too: They reduce the risks of low-fat diets, and they’re supportive of your gut environment, especially since they have the capability to combat harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. Additionally, MCTs contain antioxidant properties, which is why coconut oil has far-reaching inflammatory benefits that have led it to be used to treat dozens of health problems in folk medicine for centuries.

Medium-chain fatty acids are capable of helping you:

  • Maintain a healthy weight — since they make you feel full
  • Specifically reduce stored body fat — since they also raise your metabolic function
  • Have more energy
  • Think more clearly
  • Experience better digestion
  • Balance hormone levels
  • Improve your mood
  • Fight bacterial infection and viruses
  • Absorb fat-soluble nutrients from various foods

Workout then eat...

Have that first meal on the horizon after working out. I can get away with working out fasted because I've been doing this for months so I'm fully adjusted to my eating schedule. But in the beginning, you want that meal coming after a workout because you'll be mad hungry.

Where yall at?
I can't stick to a workout schedule. This job I got is taxing and I often sleep right up until it's time to go to work. I'm going to have to re-up my gold's gym membership and go to them after work, around 1 am. If not then I'm literally about to pay someone to blow my phone up at 9am to make me get up and go to the gym.

I have MyFitnesPal and Vora.
Vora keeps track of your fasting so you know just how long ago your last meal was and it alarms when it's time to eat. You can put in the schedule you're on and it keeps you on track. Vora is for Android, there's another for iOS users but the name slips my mind at the moment.

I also have a Bluetooth scale that connects to my phone which tracks my progress, and it reminds me every 2 weeks to weigh in. I got the scale from Amazon for under $30. The name is 1byOne, and it's got some pretty good reviews:

https://bodyfatgenius.com/1byone-scale/

For workouts I use jefit. Completely customizable and it comes loaded with workout routines already. I sometimes go to bodybuilding.com and look for workouts. When I see one I like I'll add it to that app and follow it when I workout. It has times so you know how long to rest between sets/reps, tracks the weight used, suggests when to increase weight, everything. I have created like 3 workout plans in mine, from regular lifting to heavy lifting to one that my friend who's a former bodybuilder competitor calls "weighted cardio."

I’ve been on this for over a year. It’s highly effective, provided you dont gorge on cakes and bullshit during your 8 hour window.

Those looking to lose 20-25 lbs before summer should do this and incorporate the keto diet. Guaranteed results...

Have both apps, I'm gonna try 1 meal a day for extreme fat burning and not eating until after I work out. I gotta see how my body reacts first due to Beta Thalessmia, if I can handle it. It's a go.

I"m 6 feet 200 pounds and stomach sticking out heavy, that's the first goal is to shrink the gut.

I'll see whether 16:8 or 20:4 is right for me, I need to speed up my metabolism.

You gotta set that workout schedule like you clocking in mayne, that's what I do

I use a similar app called Progression. Syncs to my watch so I can log my workout without taking out my phone.

That's crazy because I'm a couple inches taller than you, weigh about 217 now, and I have no stomach at all. That was the first thing that went for me...

And I've always done 16:8, but actually it ends up being 18:6 or 20:4 because I eat only when I'm hungry. I can do a 24hr fast with no issues whatsoever, and that includes workouts and a full 9 hour shift at work.

I just put my girl on the 16:8 IF plan, and she has a solid workout plan too. Lawd that tall red mufucca gonna be fun to fuck

cuz, I'm in the same boat with my gallbladder being removed. What my routine has recently been is I head to work at 5:20 a.m., eat a banana if I get extremely hungry, and use a veradesk instead of sitting down on my computer. I eat around noon (something small) for lunch. I run 3 miles after work and eat a good size meal before 8:00 p.m. I've lost 9 lbs within 2 weeks.

How is your water intake?

A lot of times, with me personally, I find that if I'm hungry or stomach is growling I'll drink two quick glasses of water and that will usually dead that feeling.

its all about body composition. at 6ft 220 i don't have a stomach. anything above that and i do. but i have alot of muscle mass. people still ask me who i play for and i never played football.

Do you guys use any apps to stay on target ?

i really don't track what i eat. as long as i am doing keto its easy to eat within a window.

but i do track workouts and btwn my fitbit app and my garmin gps watch app i have enough information to gamify workouts and stay motivated.

Yup!

I was at home depot a month or so ago wearing my super bowl pull over sweater and as I was checking out the cashier asked me who I played for... I just looked at her and smiled...I don't even realize my size until someone mentions it or I see myself in pictures/on a video

Anything other than water breaks your fast

Even sugarless gum
I drink lemon or mint infused water all the time (water with sliced lemon in it). It's the only way I'll drink water because water is nasty as fuck. With this type of water I can just guzzle it and not be bothered by the taste.

Will that break my fast?

and back to the workouts thing.

its all about discipline. when i work out its all about getting it in. its just what we have to do.

when i am out there on the road running i am just thinking to myself i am doing this to be better not because its fun.

if you want to be better you have to stay disciplined and realize that this is not about what you want to do its about what you have to do.

i have never understood this. water tastes like nothing. literally nothing.

its amazing how we all have different tastes.
