Agreed. That's just about the only way WWE gets my money. I don't get all of them (why the hell did John Morrison get a dvd?) but I end up getting at least two a year. I am going to miss the Elimination Chamber one because I've never been a fan of the match itself, too convoluted and a little too gimmicky, just slightly better than TNA's King of the Mountain match.
Misawa was a beast. That whole All Japan style was incredible to watch, with him, Kawada, Kobashi, and Stan Hansen tearing each other up. I prefer the more athletic New Japan style with Muto, Hase, and Sasaki but I really enjoyed that stiff King's Road shit they were doing in All Japan.
Elimination Chamber is about the closest thing we have to a Wargames these days unfortunately, so I'm getting it based off of that (and historically, most of the matches range from decent to great, with only one being poor).
When I was younger I preferred NJPW (mainly the Jr Heavyweights like Lyger, Ultimo, Pegasus Kid, Black Tiger, etc.) but around college (I started watching Japanese wrestling back in jr high school) I really got into the strong style that no one was doing better than AJPW (these days, no one does it better than NOAH). Looking back at Misawa's matches from the mid-80s into the early 2000s especially, he was just brilliant. He could literally have a great match with anyone. Plus, the matches themselves tended to be so stiff that even non-fans of wrestling I could get into them.
I made about 10 bootleg DVDs full of Misawa matches, but I'm still buying this official release anyway for the perfect picture quality. It even includes a couple matches I haven't seen before.
Looking back, I really loved the progression of wrestling in AJPW. Baba (who was actually alrightish when he was younger) laid the groundwork for Tsuruta (who was INCREDIBLE for many years), to finally Misawa (who basically could do it all. TONS of athleticism and a brilliant storyteller in the ring. The only guy who was arguably better from that era from Japan was Tsuruta, in my opinion. But Misawa was an overall better wrestler).
