-Lupe Fiasco was a poser

-Newsense from Psychodrama is a top 5 female MC of all time

-Eightball carried MJG. When they finally released solo albums, Eightball dropped a classic double album, MJG, left on his own, his shit was trash.

-Kendrick Lamar’s last album was trash.

-Cormega was the best MC in ‘The Firm’.

-Foxy Brown ran circles around Lil Kim as an MC, never got Kim’s level of public acclaim.

-De La Soul sucked.

-Listening to overly sexualized lyrics and copious amounts of misogyny in rap wasn’t no big deal until you started having kids, especially daughters, now it’s hard to listen to a lot of stuff.

-XXL > The Source

Part 2
-“Mr. Ice Cream Man gets a lot of credit, but “Ha” by Juve is the song that opened the south to the rest of the country.

-“Ha” is also one of, if not maybe, the greatest rap videos ever made. #2 would be “What You See Is What You Get” by Xzibit.

-Little Brother is a top 5 hip hop group of all time.

-Phonte Coleman is a top 5 MC of all time.

-Eminem had one good album, the first one. The rest was some bs angry white boy rap/rock/grunge blend where he wasn’t even rhyming he was mainly yelling. But, he knew his audience and the suburban white boys and the like ate it up.

I would say Make em say ugh.
Give pee his credit man that boy put on

1. Nature used to smoke Nas boots
2. In My Lifetime Vol.1 is not as bad as everyone says.
3. Clue Freestyles were better than the actual album cuts with the same verses that released later on.

my understanding is that hip-hop is the culture (MCing/rapping + DJing +Beatboxing + Breakdancing + Graffiti)

rapping is just one element of that....BUT most people use it interchangeably

And that's okay

But they are NOT the same thing

And if your going to use that to critique you gotta know the difference

while I think it's probably Spliff Star?

Especially because of longevity and perfect stage presence

Flavor Flav and Freaky Tah RIP are probably the greatest hype men ever.

Because they were vital to not only the live performances and videos

But actual classic records

Record sales are important
The streets matter more, what people are listening to,radios aka bluetooths, phones now and what their playing in their cars mattered the most back in the days and still to this day.If something is hot, you're going to hear it or hear about it some how, even if it's bad fucking news(rapper killed) and an example of that was XXXXXion dude from Florida didn't know nothing about him til he was killed and I still haven't heard one song that I know is his.

XXXXion is a terrible example cause he was on the cover of a few magazine but people on the internet talk about the XXL yearly rap lineup but no one really reads magazines.

I didn't say the streets didn't matter or matter more

I'm saying it's ALSO a criteria to be considered and shouldn't be dismissed when someone wants to prove a point.

Because I agree with you and usually all that you saying translates to sales somehow someway

spliff was annoying as fuck and unnessary to busta rhymes whose energy didn't need a hype man. Bentley Farnsworth was a better hype man....yeah I said it!!

Ill say this, busta woulda been busta without spliff. Public enemy woulda been the same.
Lost boyz would not have popped without tah, he put the flavor on them LB songs

I'm a lost Boyz die hard and agree with that part...

But not the preceeding.

Chuck and Buss themselves will tell just how much those 2 men contributed to their careers, tours and live performances.

They really matter.

fuck spliff

flava was the silly counterpart to chuck d's super seriousness... it balanced them out...even if you didn't have flav himself youd still need that element.

You didn't start seeing spliff around until busta second album, he was already who he was gonna be.
Public enemy has so many songs that have nothing to do with flav.

Tah was on every lost boyz song.

Even the features.
This song aint shit without tah
