I just watched 4 episodes and I think it's cool. I expected the worst, but it's keeping my attention. They could have chosen a different actor for Carlton for sure. The guy isn't believable. Idk how I feel about the Geoffrey character too. I like that he isn't just some butler, but what is he?

yeah man it’s never been cool for a dude to try and fuck his cousins ex-girlfriend then especially if he sees the cousin still likes her, then the girl would be seen as a hoe for going from one cousin to the other, to add to that she had close relationship with the mother in this show.

i agree with others on the Carlton casting not being right and also his character is wayyy off, I don’t know why they went this direction with him. I know this show is supposed to be a reboot but they are mixing old character types (Will, Ashley, Aunt Viv) with new character types (Carlton, Geoffrey, Uncle Phil), Hilary is kinda a mix between the two.

I will actually say I haven't been this impressed with a new show this much since Snowfall debut. Will be binging on the next three episodes when I get home later tonight.

It was actually better than I thought It would be. watched all 4 episodes. Show definitely went In a different direction and I like that the comedy aspect of the original show Is toned down. The drama Is good.

Enjoyed the 1st episode and will check out more.

They packed alot into the pilot episode and it was good to see the call backs to the original series, and reinterpretations, etc. Visually it looks great as a drama - especially so after most of us are used to the sitcom format of 30+ years ago.

As others have noted - it seems to be a mix of good casting choices, along with some missteps.


* For those in Canada - Showcase is airing the series on a weekly basis (ep 2 tonight) if you aren't already going ahead and streaming or downloading the additional eps elsewhere, and/or don't have the US streaming network. Similar to how the W network carried the reboots of Saved by the Bell and Punky Brewster in weekly format.

A think Will just took the bag for this. Fresh Prince of Bel air tackled serious issues in the First season and was a little too serious for the masses the 2nd and 3rd Will Smith and Carlton came into there inner goofiness and the Show was a hit before Martin. With so many classic episodes and moments from the series why would you mess that up.... I mean seriously I would never give this show a chance. The cast of the reboot are all nobodies and how can you put so much seriousness on a show when the main star is a goof. Not corny but a goof. I would of love to see someone like Shiggy or an upcoming instagram comedians take on the roles of Will and Carlton. It's like they shitted on the whole culture with this remake.......Straight Bullshit

I watched the first series on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised... I was expecting not to like it but the writing and characters got me drawn in and engaged....

Can you imagine Jeffery being an undercover gangster and Carlton being a straight up bitch??....

Will Smith Eddie Murphy Kevin hart are all comedic actors and went on to have lead roles and do great things. Defending nobodies and a bullshit show doesn't mean anything. This shit is great. There was only one way for this show to succeed and that was for them to do exactly what they did. Made a completely opposite show with a more serious tone and I’m for it. I also like deep down it’s still fresh prince….but it’s still nothing like the OG if that make sense.

I hate to be negative all the time but this is what I am talking about, this degrading behavior we have to engage in to survive. Will Smith is another sad example coming out of Hollywood. He did a slicked up cop propaganda movie with Men in Black and Bad Boys. White police go by the book and holds the black officers accountable, the black officer breaks all the rules.

He did alot of movies and TV shows, showcasing African Americans moving up the social status through college of course such as Enemy of the State, Fresh Prince, and Pursuit of Happiness. We should break our links with factory labor that will now be contract labored out overseas to pursue readily available professional jobs that really do not exist. Oddly, Pursuit of Happiness deals with stock brokering/investing which I believe led to Charlie Sheen getting AIDS (Wall Street). Oliver Stone showcasing of labor being harmed by Wall Street/Investor seems to incite their anger for some reason

Luckily, smartphones and bodycams shut down this wholesome image they were trying to create in Hollywood. I have been complaining and Hollywood is finally producing the movies I like showing dirty white cops committing crime as seen in real life.

Instead of giving out money for scholarships or building schools, he presents himself being in a higher socio economic status due to his college degrees.
