I recently found out they debuted a “Terrifier 3” in theaters. I was scratching my head looking for “Terrifier 2” cuz I had seen “Terrifier” some years ago.

While searching, I discovered that “Terrifier” is the 2nd film and this film I’m reviewing is actually the first film. I also learned that there was a 11 minute short that debuted back in 2011 featuring “Art The Clown”. That short film is the first story in this film with the chick in the train station. So technically this is the first film in the franchise.

The film is basically an anthology film with 3 parts with a main plot that connects them thru out the film.

The stories are short and get right to the point/action. Blood/Gore is not all that impressive and has a 70s “Grindhouse” vibe to them. VFX/SFX for Blood/Gore looks on the level of a college film student project.

Overall, it’s an interesting film that proceeds at a good pace from start to finish.

Synopsis

On Halloween, after a night out trick-or-treating, children Tia and Timmy are surprised to find an unmarked VHS tape in their candy bag. Together with their babysitter Sarah, they watch the tape, which contains three stories featuring a homicidal clown named Art.

Correction

I was half asleep last night while writing my review for the above film.

There is a “Terrifier 2”. The above film and “Terrifier” are the only 2 in the franchise I have seen.

I gotta watch “Terrifier 2” to get caught up before watching the new film that came out.

I’d rewatch Terrifier (2018) before watching Terrifier 2 (2022) since you have some history and interest in watching the full series

Different versions of Art the Clown in All Hallows and shorts it compiles and Terrifier series - different actor also

PRAISE: Even in the 1970's people were faking it until they were making it in "reality" TV from talk shows to game shows. Producers and even hosts goading participants into what to say or do to get the best ratings. The movie is based on the crazy real-life incident from 1978, when the serial killer Rodney Alcala (Daniel Zovatto) appeared on The Dating Game.
Daniel Zovatto definitely taps into creep mode as murderer Rodney Alcala, and made my skin crawl a bit. The type of person that you cant wait to get away from. But he still had enough charm to lure women into his web. I think
director and producer Anna Kendrick, did a very good job with this film. She captures the corny awkwardness and innuendo of the Dating Game show.I liked how she further shows how all logic, reason or care is overwhelmed by a lust for fame. The way she frames certain scenes with the quiet vibe of darkness surrounding a person, when only footsteps can be heard are on point and how some of the victims were charmed into going along with Alcala are done in such a way that i cared for them just enough to be drawn into the scene and become involved.

PROBLEMS: The pacing definitely could have been better. Kendrick pulls back on displaying a few things about the killer and i think it watered down the movie a bit.

This is the classic version of the film which was never released. I’m not gonna go into why, that’s a discussion for another thread.

The film has never been released in theaters or VHS/DVD. Only leaked pirated copies have been available. I had last seen a rough copy that I had downloaded in the early 2000s. I remembered the sound quality/picture was low quality, most likely due to it being a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy, etc.

This version came up randomly on my YouTube recommendations earlier this month and I decided to watch it this morning in my truck while stuck at this loading dock in SLC.

I am going to say that this has to be one of the most accurate comic book versions made. The first 30 minutes of the film is focused on character introduction/origins and development. After that the story goes into the main plot.

VFX/SFX showing the Fantastic Fours abilities look decent being this is a very low budget production made for $1 million. Ben is shown in a prosthetic suit. The face prosthetic looks amazing with attention to detail and realism. They even have his iconic brow actually moving. He looks 100% better than what they did with Michael Chiklis in the 2000 films. Johnny when completely engulfed in flame is done in animation style which actually looks way better than CGI. Sue’s invisible powers wasn’t done well, but her force field was depicted well. Reed stretching was depicted well, they used the “Less is more” with Reed.

Casting of the Fantastic Four was done well, it’s clear these actors did some research of the characters.

Their costumes debuted and they look like they stepped right out of the comic books. You would think the blue/white costumes would look silly, but they look and fit great on them. Especially Sue’s costume.

Doctor Doom in his iconic green cloak and armor. He too looked like he stepped right out of the comic books. They even added a metallic clinking sound when he moved. He was portrayed accurately from his comic version.

Alicia Masters debuts and begins her relationship with Ben.

The main downside of the film was introducing a character named “The Jeweler”. He was mainly put in as comic relief. Time was wasted showing him and his henchmen. He played out more like a villain from the 1960s “Batman” TV show. Also, Doctor Doom has two henchmen who are in there as comic relief, they are a waste of time.

Overall, this is a damn good film, it’s a little corny, not much action, but it will definitely surprise you. Hopefully Disney/Marvel has watched this version and take some tips from this film.

The end credits roll has a cool remix of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”.

YouTube has a very clear and clean HD copy of the film from what you see in the below trailer.

Synopsis

The Fantastic Four is an unreleased 1994 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The film features the team's origin and first battle with Doctor Doom.

I watched this one tonight on Hulu while on the road in my truck.

It’s mainly a suspense, thriller film. Not much too say being the premise has been done more times than I can remember, except this film has a little twist to the premise.

Lots of visual blood/gore in the film. There isn’t anything for scares.

For the Pervs, Sydney Sweeney is running around in her Nun outfit. There are enough scenes in her nun outfit to satisfy whatever kinky fetish you have.

For the Thirsty, Sydney is not glammed up and slowly looks like shit the closer the film gets to the end. There are a couple of scenes with her nude wearing a pregnant prosthesis, nothing is shown. She has scenes at the end wearing a night gown without a bra and you can clearly see those big natural juggs of hers sag with their heftiness.

The film somewhat ends for a possible sequel, I am curious if they do, how the story will play out.

Synopsis

An American nun embarks on a new journey when she joins a remote convent in the Italian countryside. However, her warm welcome quickly turns into a living nightmare when she discovers her new home harbours a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors.

Venom: The Last Dance

PRAISE: The Jekyll and Hyde or Heckle and Jeckle of the Sony associated with Marvel characters of Venom and Eddie Return for one last(??) adventure.
I can say at least this movie gave me what I've always liked about this Trilogy of flicks: The various alien symbiotes and how they look and move. This is displayed in a spectacular way and i can appreciate all of the hard work that went into the CGI & SFX. The glimpses of a certain character weren't bad either. I did laugh a few times at Venom's and Eddie's antics.

PROBLEMS: The characters Dr. Payne (Juno Temple),and General Rex Strickland (Chiwetel Ejiofor),are basically cookie cutters. One wants to study the symbiotes, one wants to destroy them the same ive seen in dozens of Sci Fi movies. This flick for the most part just made me wonder a lot. Why characters make decisions without any logic or reason. Why characters are introduced that don't add up to much. So much so I saw them as filler. The inconsistencies in the script are so huge that I couldn't just accept them. There's definitely a Why bother feeling I had during the flicks two end credit scenes.

This chic is not a bad actress but she wants to use sex to sell her image but wants to be taken as a serious actress at the same time. You can't have both in our current climate.
