I jus copped this yesterday....and already put in 12 hrs. It was this or Shadow of Modor....I'm not disappointed at all.

ya I copped this game @ the right time...w/ summer off it's gonna occupy a lot of my time...just started it now...shit is tight...and I actually like the characters so far to the point that I don't mind watching the cutscenes @ all...and find myself choosing options naturally based on how I feel about the characters instead of "angling" for the best possible outcome or w/e

I cant say enough positives about this game. Im pretty much doing the same thing in Novigrad. Im looking for Dandelion, end up doing a side quest for someones else, back to the Dandelion quest, another sidequest for someones else. I like how everything weaves together and it doesnt feel like busy work thrown in that has nothing to do with the rest of the game, or quest youre doing. This shit here is the gold standard that every RPG should take their cues from.

Im trying to turn everybody I can on to this game in hope theyll make another one down the line. This company has a faithful customer and that Cyberpunks joint looks good too.

I'm went to Skillge a couple of days age. Been reconnecting and doing some catching up with Len.

You should go there as soon as you can. Probably my favorite part of the Witcher world so far. I won't spoil it for you but it's a nice land scape and the game opens up even more. There's a island filled with pirates. I murdered at least 30 within 5 minutes. Ran into a lvl 26 troll trying to collect those master tools for the master blacksmith in Novagrad. Gonna have to go back & fight that troll later after I lvl up.:smh:

The Witcher 3: 10 Ways You’re Playing It Wrong

http://whatculture.com/gaming/the-witcher-3-10-ways-youre-playing-it-wrong.php

10. Prioritise Scavenger Hunts/Witcher Contracts

Witcher 3 actually benefits you massively to embark on the Scavenger Hunts near the bottom of your quest list.
There you’ll find specific witcher gear from the various keeps across the region, opening up many crafting chains that all begin with the starting versions acquired first. This is how you get the awesome Bear Armour seen in plenty of the promotional photos, and although the game then tells you “Hey, hang onto this stuff for later!” it’s not until you stray off the beaten path that you’ll happen upon it in the first place.
In addition to this, Witcher contracts and the random exclamation mark quests occasionally turn up great weapons and items – there’s a particularly worthwhile sequence of events in the city located north of Novigrad, where you’ll meet a renowned elven swordmaster who is formerly retired. After embarking on a fairly lengthy sequence of events, he’ll eventually craft you ‘Blade from the Bits’, a brilliant sword if you happen upon him in the early game.

7. Learn To Switch Up Your Spells Constantly

As covered over here, you actually don’t need to bring up the spell wheel to change what you’ve got assigned. Instead – even though it’s a bit cumbersome to do – whilst blocking you can use the D-pad (or scroll wheel on a mouse) to cycle spells whilst remaining in combat.
This allows you to forever switch over to Quen (the spell that lets you soak up one blow damage-free) before then hopping back across to Igni (the fire spell), Aard or Axii (Force-push and mind-control respectively) to mix it up.
Basically, you always want to have Quen activated (you can tell because there’ll be a little glow around Geralt) before using things like Igni to torch packs of wolves or keep groups of enemies more spread out – and you can use Aard to blast many high-level enemies off the edges off cliffs for easy wins.

5. Go To Skellige As Soon As Possible

Another subversion of expectations when it comes to plundering ahead into higher-level territory – you don’t need to hold off on grabbing a boat or fast travelling across to the Western isles of Skellige. Instead, therein are some of the best quests you’ll find, more satisfying bandit camps to carve up – and loads of treasure out in the sea to gather up.
Skellige’s vast oceans hold more question marks and scattered islands full of things to discover than the other regions combined, and providing you’re deft with a crossbow to take out the surrounding Harpies or other creatures that’ll latch onto your vessel, it’s a far more consistently rewarding place to explore.
To throw a cherry on top, some of the best story quests come alongside this part of the world, as it’s the first time Geralt and Yennefer get to spend some quality time together – the conversation options and fallout within reflecting what you’ve been up to beforehand.

2. Put Points Into Axii

Speaking of speccing Geralt in a particular way, you’re going to want to give up at least three of your points to boost the mind-controlling Axii spell to maximum. Axii is the one spell that matters most outside of combat, as you’ll be able to use it in many conversations – essentially to Jedi mind trick’ing your way out of certain situations.
The reason this stands out as something to focus on, is because in Witcher 2 you were presented with a percentage chance of this working, meaning even at a low level there was a small chance you’d be able to pull it off – but in W3 it’s resorted to a more strict “No level? No chance” setup.
Due to the amount of times quests can turn on a dime and Geralt can find himself on the business end of a hairy scenario involving any number of lives about to be lost, it’s invaluable to boost this skill and have it ready should the need arise.

1. Sell To Specific People, Dismantle Everything & Recover Your Runestones

As is like real life, trying to sell a random piece of crockery or slab of raw meat to a stranger doesn’t always go down well. Instead, rather than assume you can offload anything in your inventory to every merchant you come across, there’s a pretty neat system in place to give you the best prices.
Any weapons and battle-ready armaments should go to the Blacksmiths or Armorers of the land, junk to Innkeepers, herbs and potions to herbalists, and any skins from animals to the more standard merchants.
Inventory-wise no player has a completely clean one, as it really is overwhelming trying to keep tabs on the amount of different things you’ve acquired – especially when the menus can’t decide in which tab to place your beast hides or particular spoils of war. To streamline the process and acquire the best materials for crafting, simply focus on the ‘Other’ tab; almost nothing in there will be a primary ingredient for any of the diagrams.
After a while you’ll get used to which Usable Items can also be broken down into leather scraps or silver dust, and be sure to dismantle any runestone-equipped swords through a Blacksmith if you want to retain possession of rarities like +100 Armour Piercing or +50% Chance of Critical Damage.

You wont be able to do some quest once you leave though. Some of the quest expire. I want to finish all of the easy quest then leave. Might leave the higher level beast alone though. I fucked a few up with those oils and bombs last night

I didn't leave Novagrad until I finished looking for Ciri.......well yeah between helping Dandelion and Triss I did all the main and essential character secondary quests.

I came across a Cyclops in Skillage today. Had to just run passed him cause I wasn't doing any damage. Two hits and you're dead. With the alt shield it probably takes about 10 minutes to defeat a high rank monster.

I feel kinda like I'm "cheating" myself by not discovering these things on my own...I don't mind getting lost in this world and exploring things for better or for worse...playing this game reminds me of when I played the 1st assassin's creed...in terms of getting immersed in the environment...just simply walking around town feels real...overall tho it's obviously far less linear and far more detailed than AC...I don't think I'll have time to get into the shell glitch before they patch it...vacation time hasn't started yet :(

Those are just tips to help you along your way. Just explore and lvl up while in White Orchard. Just when you think you're a beast and can't be fucked with they throw something at you and make you decide on retreating and lvl up more.

BTW anytime you strike a opponent from behind it's automatically is a critical strike & possible fatal blow.

It took The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt just two weeks to sell four million copies, according to developer CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwiński.

"With an average of 90+ on every platform, Wild Hunt is our dream coming true," Iwiński wrote in an open letter on the game's official website. "I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the four million gamers worldwide who bought The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the first two weeks from launch.

"Four million RPG fans spending their hard-earned money on our game is a sign that we did something right, and you can be sure that we'll harness all that positive energy and make the upcoming expansions worthy of the grand adventure that you're telling us Wild Hunt already is!"

Pre-order sales for The Witcher 3 topped 1 million by May 11, eight days before the game's release. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings took about three months to hit 940,000 in sales.

Here's the full letter from Iwiński (and if you're hungering for a bit of Witcher play right now, why not check out this guide to winning at Gwent?)
Dear Gamers,

May 19th was a crucial date for all of us here at CD PROJEKT RED -- we released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, our open world role-playing game that we had been hard at work on for over 3 years. Since day one, you have given us tons of positive feedback and support -- the sheer volume of emails we've gotten since launch simply congratulating us for our efforts is both epic and heartwarming, and I wish every developer comes to have such a fantastic community. In terms of media reception, we're really humbled by the scores the game has received all around the world. With an average of 90+ on every platform, Wild Hunt is our dream coming true.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the four million gamers worldwide who bought The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the first two weeks from launch. Four million RPG fans spending their hard-earned money on our game is a sign that we did something right, and you can be sure that we'll harness all that positive energy and make the upcoming expansions worthy of the grand adventure that you're telling us Wild Hunt already is! Until then, keep on enjoying Wild Hunt, do not forget to grab your weekly set of free DLCs, and stay tuned for constant updates and enhancement to the game we are continuously working on.
Dandelion once said to Geralt that the world is changing, the sun is setting, and vodka's running out -- go, play, and have fun!

All the best,
Marcin Iwiński

Do the infinite money hack still work?

There was a update today. The patch notes says it was fixed. There's lvl caps on armour and weapons so it's not like you can just splurge on anything.

You can rack up coin by just selling looted weapons, weaker swords, animal furs and pelts.

So what do you guys think of the "controversy" about no minorities in the Witcher games?
I mean,im not really upset about it but thats just me :dunno:

(author of article is polish)

http://www.terminally-incoherent.com/blog/2015/06/04/witcher-3-and-diversity/

Witcher 3 does not contain any people of color not because of “mythology” or “history” or “book lore” but most likely because CD Project Red never even considered adding non white characters to their game. They literally forgot that non-white people even exist, which is something that happens when you are a white person, living in predominantly white culture, and consuming predominantly white media. You can literally spend a few years making a cool video game, designing awesome monsters, and interesting characters, and not even once consider giving one of them a darker skin color. Folks who made the game are not evil racists (at least I don’t think they are), they just happened to do a thing that white people very often do, which is to ignore everyone that does not look like them. By doing so they contributed to erasure of non-white people in the industry. Witcher 3 is yet another game that features exactly zero people of color. This is a problem.

Firstly, Polish/Slavic mythology isn’t really a thing.[1] You can’t talk about it in the same way as you talk about Norse mythology or ancient Greek or even Egyptian mythology. There is no concrete body of mythological lore you can print in a book and use as a game setting
The argument from “historical accuracy” is also moot and void, because the game does not take place in a historical period, but in an entirely imaginary setting. But if we wanted to be sticklers about it and say it is supposed to be “based on” Poland as it existed at some point in time (but, you know, with elves, and werewolfs and drowners) it still would not make sense. As I mentioned above, we don’t know much about Polish history prior to year 966

"Granted, the world was not designed by CD Project Red. This particular bit can probably be entirely blamed on Sapkowski, and as an author he has the right to set up his world any way he likes. But people defending the game using “historical accuracy” should probably note how the map was manipulated to specifically exclude a number of Poland’s neighbors.
Literally Polish Knights

My point is that if you wanted to include a non-white person in a story set in Poland at any point in history, it would take a minimal amount of research to come up with a believable, and historically “accurate” back story for that character. In fact, this works for just about any region or time period in medieval Europe. Observe:

Q: How do we get Morgan Freeman into a Robin Hood story?
A: IDK, crusades or something.

Done. It makes sense (just as much as anything in Robin Hood story would), is historically plausible, and does not really require complex explanation. It’s literally that simple.

But, once again, the world of Witcher 3 is not historical Poland. You don’t really even need a plausible explanation. If CD Project Red wanted to be even a little bit diverse, they could totally do it. Perhaps by including some traders from the tropical Zerrikania that is mentioned but never described it in much detail in the books. Or maybe some people who live in Southern parts of Nilfgraad Empire happen be brown and some of them become soldiers in the army that is now occupying the Northen territories? Because, why not?"

More Free DLC This Week For 'The Witcher 3'

More freebies on the way for anyone who owns The Witcher 3. This week, CD Projekt Red is offering up a new card set for Gwent, as well as a new mission that seems to involve a pig in some way. Or at least a statue of one. It’s called “Fool’s Gold.” Previous free DLC for The Witcher 3 have included new looks for characters, quests, and some crossbows. These items are part of CD Projekt Red’s larger plan to offer 16 pieces of DLC for anyone who buys the game as part of a small rebellion against the current trend towards microtransactions — they’re purposefully releasing the exact same sort of small cosmetic changes that would command a $2-$5 price point for other games.

We also got a huge console patch today, fixing up a laundry list of bugs and tweaking performance.

The free DLCs are just one of the small ways that CD Projekt Red is shaking up the AAA space, and I do love them. I think it’s a big part of what makes this game so successful: CD Projekt Red has tapped into some real frustrations in the core gaming community, and they’re responding by giving people more and more of what they like. And it’s not a gimmick: CD Projekt Red is passionate about their approach to gaming, which you can see in everything from their games to their PC gaming store, GOG.com.

CD Projekt Red recently revealed that The Witcher 3 sold 4 million copies in just two weeks, which is a very impressive accomplishment for a game on this scale. The developer managed to not only make a truly AAA game on a small budget, but it’s proven that it can put up AAA sales numbers as well. It all comes down to quality: the world-building in this game is a massive accomplishment, and word of mouth can sell a whole lot of copies when you’re above 90 on every metacritic platform. And considering how much goodwill they’ve built up in the past few weeks, I imagine they’re going to convert very well with their larger expansions.

Where to find Nilfgaardian Armor Set?

http://www.gosunoob.com/witcher-3/nilfgaardian-armor-set-dlc/

The Nilfgaardian Armor Set is sold by the Quartermaster in the Baron’s garrison. You can find this garrison north of the Crow’s Perch fast travel point, in western Velen (No Man’s Land).

Nilfgaardian Set Statistics

http://www.gosunoob.com/witcher-3/nilfgaardian-armor-set-dlc/

This set is Relic medium armor. It acts like an upgraded version of the Temerian Armor Set from the first DLC. Their effects are the same, just the numbers are different. We were able to buy and use it at levels 10 and 35 (37 for gauntlets). Its price and stats are also variable, depending on what level of armor you buy. This makes the Nilfgaardian armor set perfect for low level players. The numbers below set piece names represent possible prices at levels 10 and 35.

Elite Crossbow Set DLC

http://www.gosunoob.com/witcher-3/elite-crossbow-set-dlc/

You could say this crossbow is part of the Nilfgaardian Armor Set. This armor set is a part of the same week’s DLC as the Elite Crossbow Set. The quartermaster in Baron’s garrison that sells the crossbow can be found in the center of the compound.

I didn't download these being that I have better equipment at lvl 21. But I would recommend the armor just for the horse upgrades. The 70% equipment space with the saddle bags plus the saddle to increase horse stamina will come in handy.

Preciate it Chris. I'm all but finished in Novagrad, soon as I wrap a missions up I'm gonna go back and find some places of power and take on some contracts before sailing for Skellige. I've got a feeling shits about to get real over there so I'll take my time and make sure there wernt some quests that may factor into some shit. I'm noticing that now they aren't telling every option in quests. You can decide where to go with the information you get. In one quest I didn't even know taking to Yen was an option. It just said magic person so I assumed it meant Tris.

Some of you already know this but if you're going to get the best ending/outcome. You have to complete those secondary character quests. There's a mission that requires you to get help allies later on that reminds me of the end mission of Mass Effect. There's cut scenes that you can tell have a different outcome depending if you did the side quest and what decision you made during them. I'm just gonna say that every character you meet along the way has a purpose.
