The New York premiere of Liam Neeson's new film has been cancelled at the last minute after he admitted he once sought to "kill" a "black b******" as revenge for a friend's rape.

The premiere was abruptly cancelled amid a fallout from the actor's comments about decades-old thoughts he had about killing a black person.

Organisers of the New York premiere of Cold Pursuit informed reporters of the cancellation on Tuesday afternoon, a couple hours before it was supposed to start.

The cancellation comes hours after Neeson appeared on Good Morning America to address his comments, telling interviewer Robin Roberts that he is not a racist.

Thankfully nothing came of it, but if we aren't going to give people space to evolve in their thinking, grow, learn, change, and speak out against their past thinking and behavior, what's the point? We say all the time that white folks need to get the racism of other white folks in check. I understand the shock and disappointment but I don't think it's a way of normalizing racism. It's a way of showing it is already normalized, and ppl need to do better of recognizing it and confronting it in themselves and others. He's wasnt bragging, he was calling himself out. I understand the shock and disappointment but I don't think it's a way of normalizing racism. It's a way of showing it is already normalized, and ppl need to do better of recognizing it and confronting it in themselves and others. He's wasnt bragging, he was calling himself out. Since he was genuinely baring his soul and confessing, I don't expect it to be smooth and polished like a movie script. Would you be polished in admitting to something over which you were ashamed?

Like I said before, all folks have been conditioned to collectively view black folks as a problem. We even have black folks trying to separate themselves as "new blacks".
